How to Use motorola PC Suite
Those who own motorola cell phones are lucky enough not to have to deal with the dreaded plea for a call from all their friends and associates, due to the fact that they have lost their cell phone and all the numbers associated with it. Using motorola PC Suite software, you can backup all your contacts, photos, text messages, video files, music files, and all other content on your cell phone using any PC computer. The software is available for download from the motorola website, and any Nokia cell phone equipped with a mini-USB port can use the motorola PC Suite software.
Things You'll Need:
* motorola cell phone with mini-USB port
* motorola PC Suite software, downloadable from motorola.com or packaged with your cell phone
* Mini-USB to USB cable
* Micro SD Card, included with your motorola phone or purchased separately
* Optional: Bluetooth-equipped laptop
* Windows XP or Vista software
Instruction
Make sure the motorola phone you own, or are thinking of purchasing, is equipped with a mini-USB port. Nearly all new motorola handsets have a port, and many of the older high-end motorola phones do as well. You will need a mini-USB cable, which should come with your phone.
You will need a Windows 2000 or greater machine for the software to work. Click the link to download, and then install the software on your PC. Everything you need will be installed onto your hard drive.
Plug in the small end of the mini-USB to USB cable into your phone, and the larger end into your PC. The motorola PC Suite software, if properly installed, will come up with a dialog box recognizing your phone.
Look on your motorola cell phone's screen, which will now recognize that the handset is plugged into a PC with motorola PC Suite software installed. The phone will give you two options: Data Transfer mode and motorola mode.
Choose Data Transfer mode if you just need to transfer files from your motorola handset to your PC via motorola PC software. This will cause your PC to bring up a folder with the contents of your cell phone's internal memory, and/or one for the contents of the micro SD card plugged into your motorola cell phone, if it has one installed. This will allow you to drag and drop files from your cell phone onto any folder on your Windows machine, or vice versa. The advantage of this is you can install programs you have downloaded off the internet, easily transfer music tracks onto your phone, or any number of other functions.
Pick motorola Mode if you want to take full advantage of the features your motorola PC Suite software allows. This will bring up a graphical user interface that allows you to do a variety of things with the click of a button.
Click the "Backup Phone" option to bring up a dialog box that will allow you to, all at once, backup the address book, images, video files, music files, programs, text and MMS messages, and anything else you have on your motorola handset all at once. This feature becomes extremely useful should you ever break, lose or otherwise destroy your phone. As long as you purchase another motorola model, you can instantly transfer your entire contacts list and other information onto your new phone.
Take some time to look around at the other different modes motorola PC Suite software offers the user. You can transfer music files using a dedicated window, where they will be instantly integrated into your cell phone's onboard music player. You can also install programs, through ".jad" and ".jar" files. This will avoid the headaches of having to download software on your cell phone, where any number of security breaches can happen.
Use motorola PC Suite software to use your phone as a modem to "tether" your laptop to the internet as well. If you have a data plan through your cell phone provider, motorola PC Suite software will allow you to use an EDGE or 3G connection to connect your laptop to the internet anywhere you have cell phone service. motorola PC Suite software has any number of other useful features to increase the fun and productivity of your motorola handset beyond the scope of what you thought a phone could accomplish.
Hope that helped.
Thanks for using fixya...
i have already transfer the music but when i switch to memorycard it states that there are no files in it
I have a new Motorola W230,I have already transfer the music data from PC to micro SD but when I put in into the SD card slot at the Motorola W230 itdoesn,t work
I can access the SD cart with the computer through the phone or staightly with the computer, but I can't make the phone read them. I tried to red the same card with the same data with another phone, and it worked with this other one. My own phone was unable to read the card of this other phone.
I saw that other people reported having the same problem.
