Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

2 red lights after fix

Me and a friend have fixed my Xbox360 after having a 3 ROD issue. It whent from 3 to 2, and now it wont get out.

I know that the 2 lights mean that it's Overheated, but the Xbox is well ventilated and it's not even warm. As sson as I push the power button, the red lights come on, and about 5 seconds later, the fan shuts off and the power brick goes on standby. I'm assuming this is the Xbox's way of dealing with Overheats, shutting down any electrical connection. I dont know how to fix it.

I have an idea of letting it sit over night, the power on but letting it do it's job, hoping that it may realise there's nothing wrong with the heating.

If anyone has any solutions, or explanations to what is happening, I'd love to hear them. Dankeschön!

I've tightened it up a bit and it still does it. I've also held a hair dryer to it for about 10 minutes, and it actualy didnt go on standby for about 5 minutes opposed to 5 seconds. This is odd.

Apparently heat makes an overheated Xbox stay on longer? O.o

Its still a heatsink issue.... make sure you clean all of the old thermal paste off and put high quality paste over it... Also make sure that the heatsink is TIGHT!.... if its loose it can overheat.

... hmmm i'd say maybe retry it again with a high quality kit... make sure the thermal paste is the best of the best... and if you can't get it, then maybe professionally is the way to go.... also youtube is very helpful for this subject... :) good luck !!!... but as i said... make sure both chips are completely clean before you re-apply any thermal paste.

When i turn ps3 on red light turns green then yellow, makes 2 beeping noises goes back to red flashes and wont bbot up anyone know thanks

Yes, what you have here is called the Yellow Light of Death, or (YLOD) for short. On PS3's, getting a YLOD is a 3% chance, while the XBOX360 gets a higher chance for the RROD.

I'm not sure exactly how to fix it myself, but hopefully this will help you.

Rings of death

the "3 rings of death" or the so called "3 red lights" is actually caused by GPU overheating and mainboard flexing. When you need to do is open your xbox360 (warning, this will void your warranty) add more cooling fan inside your xbox360, you'd want to use 80mm fans coz they fit perfectly. you can fit up to two 80mm fans inside your xbox360.

Also, if you notice that your xbox360's mainboard is warped you need to fix this by disconnecting all the connections from the board. then place the board on a flat surface. then use a hair drier to heat the board and flat it out. its kinda complicated. hehe, at least you now have an idea on whats causing the 3 red lights...
