Hi, Exists a formula that is that of the memory(report) ram base multiplies for 4 and this way the interval is placed in: I initiate + Panel of control + system + avanced + performance (setting) + Label Advanced + virtual memory (chance) + custom size (initial size = memory base) (Max. size = base memory x 4)

Virtual memory is the space the laptop uses on the hard drive to write to and read from. It usually is caused by running too many applications at once, thereby putting a greater demand on the free disc space you have,

Firstly, you need to check how much free disc space you have. Less than say 1 GB will flag up the issue ( depending how much virtual memory the computer is allocating). You need to remove some data from the hard drive and back it up to free some disc space

Then consider upgrading your ram to help you run more programmes at once if needed

Finally, consider getting an external usb drive to store data on, or upgrade your hard drive

Virtual Memory too low Warning Trouble in win xp and vista

When there is less physical memory than needed, then some virtual memory (virtual RAM) is created on the disk. When there is a limit set to the size of virtual memory usage and there is not enough of it present there is a warning that frequently comes "Virtual Memory too low". Solution 1 : This problem occurs when physical RAM + Virtual RAM (usually created on hard disk) together are not sufficient to take care of the currently needed RAM size, or this situation is about to arise. This usually happens when some fixed upper limit for Virtual Memory has been set. To solve this problem, you can either upgrade you physical RAM on your computer (recommended), or you can set the Virtual Memory to system managed size or you can do both. Setting Virtual Memory to system managed size means windows will set it to higher size whenever needed automatically, for this,
Right click on My computer --> goto properties, goto advanced tab, click on performance settings, now click on advanced, now click on advanced, now click on change button for Virtual memory.
On this screen select the System managed size, press OK. After this re-start your computer. This will solve the virtual memory too low problem. Solution 2: Recommended solution is to upgrade your physical memory (RAM) according to requirements of the kind of applications that you run on your computer. If you upgrade RAM or not, the following procedure will help prevent this warning by increasing the virtual memory limit.
Right click on My computer icon and click properties.
This will show system properties window. Click on a advanced tab and click on the settings button under heading performance. This will open performance options window. Click on advanced tab and click on change button under heading virtual memory. Check if the space available is set to some custom value or double the RAM size ? If it is not double the RAM memory size , then select the size option set the virtual memory size double the RAM Size and press set button and press OK button. Restart the computer

Your system is infected by virus or worm or trojans. Presence of spyware, malware or adware could be the problem too. A system usually infected with such illwares are slow as they takes up the system resource.

Virtual memory is a part of hard disk which act as a secondary RAM. It usually resides in system drive in hidden mode and it is called "pagefile.sys".

I think you don't need to increase the size of your Virtual Memory as the Operating System automatically set the size at the time of installation.

You just scan the system with a good Antivirus or any Internet Security suite with their latest updates installed.

I recommend "Kaspersky Internet Security 2010" or "A-Squared Anti-Malware". Both can detect virus and other malware too.

This will completely solve your problem.

Note: Don't forget to update your Operating System too with microsoft updates if you are using Microsoft products.

Hi,
I'm assuming that your operating system is XP and it's running low on Virtual memory.

Right click on My Computer and select properties from the sub menu. A System properties window will open so click on the Advanced tab. On the performance section click on the settings button. A performance window will open. In the Virtual Memory section click on change. Select System Manged Size and then click on Set. You may get a warning message so just select yes or OK to everything. Click apply and OK in the System Properties window and then restart your computer.
You should not get any low memory messages from now on.

Regards.

I've Run Out Of Memory Without Adding Anything New To The System

Hi,

When you deleted files, what you are freeing is hard disk space and not memory.

What I suspect is that at startup, your PC loads a number of programs that may or may not be essential for the system operation but nonetheless uses memory. This greatly reduces available/free memory and when you really want to run an application, the PC has no more memory to spare.

The easiest way I could think of to free up more memory is to streamline your startup applications. This could be done by running your System Configuration Utility (Start/Run, type "msconfig" less the quotes, Startup tab).Try to Disable All or uncheck all entries (except perhaps your antivirus and any application that you feel may be essential).

Additionally, you can increase your virtual memory. This could be done in your System Properties/Advanced tab/Performance Settings button/Performance Options Advanced tab/Virtual Memory Change button and select Custom Size. Numbers should roughly be equal to twice your real memory (say onboard is 512, then virtual = 1024). You need to click on the Set button, OK,OK,OK and reboot.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
