Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, let's try the simple one. Check if any of the buttons on the front control panel are stuck. You could also flick/snap them with your finger nail.

Should that be not corrective, then the unit wold have to be opened up, perform voltage measurements, determine faulty component and subsequent part(s) replacement. Further, a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron would be required. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

You can test remote control by seeing it through camera / camcorder.
see remote face through camera and press / hold any button on remote, you will notice Infra Red diode blinks at front of remote. without camera you can not see IR diode blinks.

Now, if you see IR diode blinks it means remote is functional. Now change batteries and try it on TV, still no joy, TV remote sensor is bad and needs to be replace.

TV remote sensor replacement is technical job and qualified TV tech can do it better.

i mean the object to which we are focusing the front part of the remote to send the signals to the TV.normal checking can be done with another remote of the same model TV,if it also does not work,it may be the problem to the sensor of TV and otherwise it will be to the remote you have.arranging such a thing is a risk ,but i think the local dealer from which you have brought the TV can help you better if you tell him about that.thank you

Try and hold the remote very close to the sensor and see if you can get it to work at all. How long have you owned the television? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thank you,

Hello

you can test your remote with a mobilephone camera like this:

open camera on the phone an hold the remote front against the camera

(approx 10cm from it) press a button and look in the display on the phone.

if the controller works you should se a blue light in the display coming from the remote front.

if no light: try other batteries again note the battery polarity. no light= controller broken.

if there is light= the remote is working. try to disconnect power from the DVD for a few minutes,

and try again. if it still not works the player is propably broken.

Good Luck

Just changed the batteries in the remotes.and getting no signal when pointing at the screen to play games

sir think your remote is not working properly... you better try to reset your remote for your nintendo wii console... this is how you can reset your remote...

  1. How to Reset Your Wii Remote

    • 1 First you will need to check a few things, just to make sure what the actual problem is.
*Check to see that all cords are properly plugged in.
*Make sure the sensor bar is properly center above or below your tv set.
*Make sure that nothing is blocking the signal to the sensor bar.
*Make sure that the batteries in the remote are in good working order.
*Make sure that there are no wireless devices close by that might be interfering with the signal.
    • 2 If after all this the remote is still not working then it probably needs to be re-synced.
    • 3 Turn off and unplug your wii console for a few minutes.
    • 4 *Turn the power back on and when you see the the safety screen open the small flap on the front of the wii console. Inside you will find the red sync button. Press and hold the red button down for 15 seconds.
      * Then remove the battery cover from the wii remote, inside you will see another red button.
      * Press and release the red button, the blue lights on the remote will start blinking.
      * Quickly press and release the red sync button on the wii console.
      * The remote will stop blinking and it should now be synced.

Need manual for this product. trying to get original remote to operate receiver only. not worried about other components. remote lights up but wont operate receiver. i think it needs re programed. help!

You don't say what happens when you use front panel controls. This is possibly not a remote control issue.

But if it is...

Try this advice:
http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Display&contents=help_deadremote&uuid=A12954406270641
"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
-----------------------------
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.
If it works, Great!
If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.
Find new or replacement remotes:
http://remotes.com/store/codes_original.html
or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

Hello there

Hold the Wii Remote upside-down with the buttons facing downward.

Tap the remote firmly against the palm of your hand three times to remove any dust sitting between the buttons and the electronic circuit board inside the remote.

Turn the remote upright and press one of the buttons. If the problem continues, Open your Wii Remote's battery door

Check that your Wii Remote contains two new "AA" batteries or a charged battery pack. Check that no corrosion is present on the battery's metal elements/connectors.

Use a cotton swab to clean the remote's battery element/connectors if corrosion is present.

Check that the Sensor Bar cable is inserted firmly into the back of your Wii gaming system. The Sensor Bar needs to be centered above or below your television so the Wii Remote can transmit signals to the gaming system.

Stand three feet away from the Wii gaming system/Sensor Bar.

Aim the remote and press any button to test the device.

If the remote is not working, stand five to 10 feet away from the gaming system and try the device. The Wii Remote works best three to 10 feet away from the gaming system/Sensor Bar.

Move any objects blocking the signal from the remote to the gaming system/Sensor bar--candles, other remote controls (TV/cable box) and wireless computer devices/cellular phones.

Also, if any sunlight is coming in through a window, close the curtains or blinds to keep the light from interfering with the remote's signal.

Turn off and unplug your Wii gaming system. Leave the unit unplugged for one minute. Plug the gaming system back in.

If the remote still aint working;

Turn the Wii system on. Press and hold the red "SYNC" button for 15 seconds when the "Health and Safety" screen appears on your television. The "SYNC" button is behind the small door on the front of your Wii unit.

Release the "SYNC" button. Remove the battery cover and batteries/battery pack from the back of your Wii Remote.

Press and release the red button located under the battery compartment. The blue lights on the front of the remote will blink

Press and release the "SYNC" button on the front of your Wii gaming system. The "Player" light on the gaming system stops blinking and stays on, the resetting process is complete

Batteries on remote went dead. Replaced with new ones and nothing worked.Has worked for four years until batteries died. There is power to the fan.All the little sliders in the remote are equal to the ones...

Make sure you have new batteries.
Make sure batteries are in the correct way.
It is easy to put them in backwards and not realize it, so triple check everything.
People also, quite often, have batteries in a drawer and think they are new, when they actually are not.
Also, make sure little red LED that sends the signal is not blocked or pushed into the remote.
Make sure receiver sensor on fan is not blocked from the remote's signal.

If this helps you, please select YES to one of the first two ratings questions. Thank you, and Good Luck.

Remotes won't work

Sounds like a frequency issue. A remote work like the radio in your where each station is on a different frequency. Some signal is interfering with you frequency (390Mhz) You could try another brand external receiver with new remotes or with that old of an operator you might just think about replacing the operator (don't go with "Wayne Dalton")

Remote Control won't work with TV

Nothing was wrong with the remote in the first place! The problem is in the TV. Some use a sensor that sees the Infra-Red light from your remote, others use an IR phototransistor. The signal then goes to a controller that performs the required function. Check the IR sensor on the front of your TV first. You can confirm operation of your IR remote by pointing it at a camcorder with night-shot and pressing the button.
