..and 5) Can you connect if security is disabled?
    Thanks..

  • eecom May 11, 2010

Hello... can I ask a few questions to help narrow down the problem:
    1) Can you successfully make a wired connection to your network

    2) Which operating system do you have - Vista, XP, or...?

    3) Which make of computer are you trying to connect to the network

    4) Is your password a WEP or WPA key? WEP can sometimes cause conflicts with newer operating systems

    Thanks....

Linksys reset
The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router’s password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models. then go to the wireless security page and type in a new password.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

When you connect to the wireless newtwork, first of all check what is the ip address that you are getting. Try to ping the ip address and if you get replies try to ping yahoo.com and 4.2.2.2. If all the replies come than there might be a firewall problem.

Please and and let me know.

Cannot connect MacBook to DIR-615 router

Is your wireless network secured ?
If you are trying to connect to the secured wireless network, make sure that the network that you are typing is correct.
If you are not sure about the network key
then check the network key on the router.
You said that MAC is able to connect to the neighbor's wireless network.
Make sure that the Wireless MAC filter on your router is disabled.

Are you trying to use wireless? If so, do you have poor signal? I would suggest browsing to your modems interface. Type gateway.2wire.net into your web browser. Click on the Homenetworking icon. Select wireless settings. Type in your system password. Increase the power of your wireless setting located towards the bottom of the page. You can even try changing the wireless channel. Save and then retry to connect. Make sure you are entering the network key correctly.

My solution was that I changed the wireless mode from "B,G and N" to just "B and G," and then it worked fine.

try to do a power cycle. turn off everything. then turn on the modem first the the router (if you're using one) then the computers.
check if the cables are properly connected, try to use another cable for hardwired computers. for wireless computers, make sure that it's connecting to the correct wireless network and you are using the correct wireless password (wpa/wep)
if you want to check your wireless settings, just log in to your router's page by typing http://192.168.0.1 on the address bar of your web browser. by default the username is admin and there's no password. you will be prompted by the router's page, go to the wireless section and check the router settings are the same with what the wireless computers are using

hope this'll help you but if you still have a problem, just give me your network setup (i.e. brand of the modem, router, number of computers and if PCs are hardwired or wireless)

cioa!

No network

The Wireless Security of the router doesn't match your laptop's wireless settings. Make sure you configure the wireless security password correctly on the laptop. If you don't know your wireless password, try these steps:

-Connect your laptop hard wired to the router.
-Open Internet Explorer and on the Address Bard type http://192.168.1.1 press enter.
-It will prompt you for username and password. By default, there's no username and on the password type admin and hit OK. If admin didn't work, type your own password for the router.
-When you get to the Setup page, click on Wireless Tab, then click the sub-tab Wireless Security.
-Look for Security Mode. If Security Mode is WPA-Personal, the Passphrase is the wireless security key that you need to enter on the laptop's wireless settings. If the Security Mode is WEP, the WEP Key 1 is your wireless security key. Connect to the wireless network and type it in. That should solve your wireless connection problem.
