Maytag Neptune TL

Can you walk me through how to remove the coins trapped in the washing machine? I suspect I have the same problem and the machine stops at 11 minutes while trying to drain.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sam

The pump assembly is mounted to the right
rear area of the base.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect power to the unit.
2. Spread a towel below the drain hoses prior
to loosening the hose clamps. This will
catch any residual water left in the hoses
and sump area.
3. Remove the hose clamps and hoses from
the pump.
4. Remove the wiring harness from the pump
motor terminals.
5. Rotate the pump assembly in a counterclockwise
direction. The support legs of
the pump are slotted to engage in keyed
slots in the base. Reverse the steps to remount
the pump.

CLEANING THE PUMP
The pump assembly can also be disassembled
without removing the hoses from the pump

1. Depress the locking tab on the face of the
pump housing.
2. Rotate the block portion of the pump containing
the motor windings toward the
front of the washer. This will disengage
the locking tabs of the pump housing from
the pump face.
3. Carefully remove the pump body away
from the housing. The drain impeller is
exposed for cleaning.

We hear a rubbing-grinding noise during wash cycle.

your machine is a FAV6800A or FAV9800A correct?

This could be coins or other debris under the tumblers.

If you want to DIY the fix see this post you need the Service Manual nad a number 20 TORX driver to remove the tumblers. SM left that info out.

Google this for a link to the SM 5th post in.

""Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW"" I can help you at that DIY forum.

Google this

""FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement""
I helped a couple forum members get thru Outer Tub bearing rebuild. One of the forum members took some pics where you will view the Tumblers removed. It

My maytag neptune tl leaks from the bottom while it washes MODEL #FAV6800AWW it leak about two to three cups of water for each load, about one drop per second.

Possible Tub Seal leak, leak from Outer Tub, Sump Cap, Drain Pump, Drain Line.

You need to pull the front cover off the machine and ID the leak source. If there wash water over the Clutch Pulley I would suspect a Tub Seal issue.

You can't link to the Service Manual form this site.

Google Maytag Neptune load unbalance and see if you can find support for the Service Manual.

For the FAV6800A or FAV9800A tumbler removal.

The Service manual has the procedure starting on page 37 for the tumbler removal.

It’s not difficult to remove the manual doesn’t call out the Torx driver size required for tumbler removal. You will need a number 20 Torx driver to remove the Torx screw for tumbler removal. I would get a long Number 20 Torx driver for this. See page 37 of the Service Manual for tumbler removal. Looks worse than it is.

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
When I did a recent Outer Tub Bearing replacement I found $1.78 in coins after removing the wash basket. Gotta check those pockets....:)

I have a post around somewhere of my diy Sump Screen I put in my FAV6800AW to protect the drain pump impeller from coins and other stuff from breaking the impeller or causing clogs. I'll look for the post or repost the pic's.........D*ick

Maytag Neptune TL clutch problems- Class Action Lawsuit??

I sounds like this is a common problem with the Maytag Neptune TL after about 3-5 years. Mine finally went out yesterday after several months of bearings getting louder all of the time. It looks like the bearings and the controller are gone. What happened to washing machines that last 15 - 20 years?
