Vertical Pinkish Lines on Bright Areas of LCD Screen

I have a HP Photosmart R967 that has given me problems since I first opened the box. While the camera is pointed toward bright areas (particularily sunlight through a window and christmas tree lights) I get pinkish vertical lines on the LCD screen. They don't show up on playback except recently they now show up for videos. I've had this problem ever since I purchased the camera, HP service has not been helpful for this problem and don't seen to want to deal with it. My father's first photosmart camera also had the same problem; but his second one as well as my daughter's seem to work just fine. I'm currently having the same problem on my new Canon PowerShot SD 990IS (even the one I just exchanged). Canon service also has not been helpful--they contend this is normal. Could all of these problems be related to defective CCD sensors?

This may not be a problem ,this will be only a result of the high density light to which you have focused the camera.it is heard that focusing to high intensity light may damage the lens and so it is not good to do so.thank you

Why wont my HP photosmart R967 turn on battery is new and docking station is fine but it will turn on if connected to docking station

It is likely the battery is not making contact properly or is not getting fully charged.
Check the instructions on battery connection on page 9 and confirm the lights are blinking correctly to show battery is charging.

My R967 got a little moisture on my last fishing trip to canada, so I took the battery out and memory card and blew it with a blow dryer, it had blue stips in the monitor and I kept it on the charger for a...

actually the moisture must have entered the leads of the display...

the leads should be removed and then it should be dried so take the moisture off..

better take it to a service centre..it is risk to manually operate the sensitive parts inside and you could end up damaging the display

Vertical lines and purple artifacts when the camera is aimed at bright subjects

Current LCD display technology can reproduce about 300 different levels of brightness. Brightly lit scenes or light sources may exceed this brightness range, causing a temporary disruption (artifacts) in the live display. Artifacts are part of the display, but they are not part of your recorded image. If you take a picture while you see artifacts on the screen and then display the picture on the LCD, you will no longer see the artifacts.
