Just installed my wrt120n linsys router, it succesfully was installed in my desk computer, but I accidentally skiped the "Learn about connecting other computers" step, and now only this computer...

Did you set a username and password for the router. If you did go to your computer and make sure your wifi is turned on. If they are turned on then go to the name of the router that said linksys and try to connect to the router using the username and password. If you didn't set a username and password then it should just connect. If you don't remember your username and password then on the back of the router there will be a reset button hold down for 1 min to be safe and start from the beginning but your wifi signal should be working without a password

How will I change the username and the password of the router? Because my friend is trying to connect to our internet here at home, but she can't connect because the router is asking for a password...

On your computer (the one connected to the router) open in browser http://192.168.1.1 and log into router's configuration page ... there on the "wireless" section you will find "Wireless security" ... there you can set up the password.
If you don't have access to the configuration page or you have problems setting up the password, you can always reset the router to it's factory settings. To do so you have to find a slightly hidden reset button on your router and push it (with a needle or something).
For more details read the manual at: http://homedownloads.cisco.com/downloads/userguide/E1000_V10_UG_USA_NC-WEB.pdf
have fun ;)

Router connection to internet problem

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

Bad Signal

Try connecting to a different router, at a Starbucks or other "free wi-fi" location. If you get more "bars", your iPod Touch is NOT the problem.

Access the web-interface on the router, and ensure that the router is set to maximum-power of its wireless signal-strength.

Get a friend to copy the CD onto a USB memory-stick,
and install the software from the memory-stick.

I was installing the Linksys router and I hooked

Replace your cat 5 cable please. I believe you have a bad cable end. DO NOT DISCARD THE CABLE UNTIL PROVEN FAULTY.

It is also possible you have a faulty port on the router. Though rare, it does happen. Drove me nuts one evening. It was a short trip.

I have lots of experience with cables having 25 computers on 5 networks in my home. Why? Darn good question my friend. I have made 99% of my cables.
