A lot of people have been complaining about this particular product.First of all, you have to format the player, but the instruction manual doesn't even mention this..
Plug one into the usb port and wait for it to detect. Then go to My Computer, and right click on the drive and Format.
You should now be able to copy songs over (copy and paste from the music folder to the removable drive), although Protected mp3's WILL NOT PLAY ON THIS PRODUCT!!!

Hope this helps ;)
Season's Greetings!

I just got the mp3 player. ive been charging it but when i disconnect it from my computer it shuts off and wont turn back on. HELP!

Some older computers that have USB ports that limit the output to 5V @ .5 amp current. Depending on your MP3 player, it may not be sufficient to charge the player. This was the spec back then. Since then, new USB specs call for 5V @ 1.0 amp current - a two fold increase in current.

You may have better luck connecting to a powered USB hub instead. If you're only looking to charge the MP3 player, you don't even need to connect it to the computer. The powered hub gets powered by connecting the ac adapter / power supply to a wall outlet - instead from of the computer's power supply via mother board.

The above assumes there is a good, rechargeable battery; a functioning charger & USB port in the MP3 player and of course, a working USB cable. If any of the above is faulty, you'll never get the MP3 Player to accept a charge. You should try different computers, cables and ports if possible.

Good luck!

The battery is not charging

You can try and reset the player. resetting a Clip player: 1. Slide and hold the Power switch up for approximately 20 seconds. 2. Release the Power switch. 3. To turn the player on, slide the Power switch up then release instantly.
Some things to check for when your player does not act like its taking a charge.
USB Cable Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable that came with your player.
Computer in Hibernation mode Make sure the computer isn't entering hibernation or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be ON in order to charge your player.
USB Port 2.0 Make sure the player is connected to a USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems).
USB Port location Try plugging into different USB ports (i.e. USB port in the back of the computer); occasionally the front USB ports have limited power to charge up the device.
Battery Make sure the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.
Latest firmware Depending on what Sansa player you have, make sure it's up to date with the latest firmware.
AC charger (optional) AC chargers (sold separately) have a 500-1000 milliamp max output, which provides much better charging ability than a USB port.

Charging

USB Cable Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable that came with your player. Try a USB plug o the back of the computer. These plugs have more power available.
Computer in Hibernation mode Make sure the computer isn't entering hibernation or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be ON in order to charge your player. Check you screensaver and power settings.
USB Port 2.0 Make sure the player is connected to a USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems).
These accessories are available on our online store.
Next try and reset the player. Resetting the player: 1. Slide and hold the Power switch up for approximately 20 seconds. 2. Release the Power switch. 3. To turn the player on, slide the Power switch up then release instantly.
Once it is back working, go to the SanDisk support site and get the updater program and update your firmware.

Not charging

Try connecting directly to USB port on your computer, NOT a hub. It needs power to charge.

I have Zune 30GB mp3 player. When I try to charge it using computer or wall charger, it tries to turn on and makes some clicking sound and turns off again. It does it repeatedly but can not charge it.

the zune does this if the battery doesn't work (needs a charged battery to power on). battery is either defective or disconnected. there is a zune repair guide that shows you how to fix it

I need to sync my nano to my mac, not my nephew's PC!

Well, if your nephew's computer is a Windows, that means you will have to restore your ipod back to factory settings to get it to work with your computer. Open itunes to the main ipod page. It should tell you that a Windows ipod has been detected in itunes and you will need to restore your ipod in order for it to work with your computer. Click ok on that message, or if that message does not appear, click restore on the ipod page. Then it should tell you that all of your information will be deleted. Click ok if you have all of the music backed up and after it restores, it should be working normally.

Sansa clip mp3 player wont charge

Try to charge it on another computer to determine if it's your computer. If the other computer works, then the problem is with your computer. (If your computer has multiple USB ports, you could also try another one.)

If the other computer does not work, then the problem is likey your cable. If you have another friend with the same device, borrow their cable and try it. If it works, then you need a new cable. If it doesn't work, then your Clip has issues. You could try doing a complete reset on it by sliding the power button up and holding it for 15 seconds (as described in the manual at http://www.sansa.com/sites/default/files/downloads/CLIP_UM_0608_ENG.pdf).

Unit Won't Turn On

I found some directions on mymusix.com. Basically, it recharges through the USB connection so plug it into the computer. Then wait for the little battery picture to be full to indicate the battery is charged. I am waiting...
If you don't even get a picture of a battery, you have a bigger problem. Check the website for adding firmware (under FAQs, under the 6070) and if that doesn't work, you might need to take it back to Radioshack and tell them. They seem to be good about taking things back..I think the one I bought is a return since it already has music on it. Not sure if that is good or bad.
