i cant see any thing on my vivitar telescope, whats the heck is wrong with it and you

  • Anonymous Dec 28, 2008

I have the same problem. You can't see ANYTHING with either lense. I mean you can't see ANYTHING - close up or far away. It was a total waste of my money but worse than that, my grandson was so disappointed that he can't use it. I might as well throw it in the trash can. I won't ever buy anything made by Vivitar.

Well you -- like hundreds of other people-- bought a department store telescope. Put the lowest power eyepiece in the telescope-- it's the one with the LARGEST number written on it.

Practice focusing during the day time on a distant object. I know the box said 500 power BUT you will only get about 100 power or less maximum that you can actually use.

I also got the same telescope for christmas. The key is is to focus with the knobs. you can either zoom in completely and the star will look like a bright white cell or you can zoom out and you will be able to see multiple stars at once. I found that the 12mm lens has worked better. And folks, this is a dept. store 40 dollar telescope. You need to spend at least 100 or get upgrades.

How do you use the vivitar telescope? i cant see anything through it!

I am very sorry but this is one of the worst telescopes you could possibly buy. Plastic eyepieces, and even a plastic focuser. Many people have problems using this cheap telescope.

Try again--- next time buy something like this, which is the best value for the money in amateur astronomy.

I recently bought a used bushnell reflector telescope that is missing a tripod mounting bracket and screw, can you please tell me where i can find one?

You cannot find parts for that very low cost telescope. You can buy a tripod but the cost will probably be more than you paid for the scope.

Here are tripods:

Next time do not waste your money on these types of telescopes. Instead save up and buy something like this:

I have lost the assembly instructions for my grandson's beginner telescope. I have it assemled properly, I beleive, but the set screw that holds the lens in place does not seem to penetrate the housing...

Hate to tell you, but we receive more complaints about this brand of telescope than any other!

Is this a REFRACTOR with a lens in the front, or a REFLECTOR with a mirror?

Any well stocked hardware store can supply you with the small thumbscrew that hold on the eyepiece. BUT this scope is being sold by TOYS R US! What does that tell you about it!

Next time buy your grandson THIS telescope:

I am having problems viewing

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. There is no up or down in space. To ERECT the image would take additional GLASS lenses. MORE glass means less light pass-through for those dim sky objects.

I cant see anything in my telescope i never have been able to and it also moves alot down it the adjustment pane it is the bushnell 78-9930

Shaky tripod is why you never buy this telescope brand.

Put the eyepice with the largest number written on it into the telescope. DO NOT use the 2xbarlow if you have one. Go outside duringg the daytime and practice focusing on a distant object.

You bought what we call a toy "department store telescope". Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the scope. DO NOT use any 2x barlow which might have been included.

Go outside during the daytime and practice focusing on a distant object. AND---- no you will not get 450 magnification from that telescope, even though it was written in bold letters on the box.

New bushnell telescope, cant see anything, what am i doing wrong?

Put the lowest power eyepiece in the telescope-- that's the one with the LARGEST number on it.

Go outside and practice focusing on a distant object at least 100 yards away-- turn the focus knob slowly.

Bushnell 700x76

Just got a 78-8831 and set it up according to instructions. After inserting lens into eyepiece, I can't see anything at all. Dont worry, I've removed the front cap from the the main telescope.

Something leads to believe I'm either missing something real fundamental or my telescope is broken. Please help
