Alright, so I tried this today and it works. Just a lil of common sense.
First, if you have a new pair of batteries, prepare it. K?
Now get something like a toothpick and go under a light so you can see the inside of the mouse. If you open up the mouse, look inside and see a movement inside it if you hit the thing under the mouse where the connector should go, then that's the switch. There's a small hole to the upper right if you look back inside of the mouse. Stick the toothpick in and push the button all the way up. Keep still like that while using your non dominant hand to put the battery in. ^^
Then let go and the light should be on.

Are the batteries charged? If not be sure the mouse is fully charged and connected to the base.

Microsoft wireless notebook mouse 3000 won't work

Sounds like the driver isn't installed to your computer. Did the mouse come with a disc? Insert the disc into your pc and install the driver for the mouse. It should walk you through the installation process. Once the driver is installed your laptop should see the mouse and load the proper driver for it.

There is indeed a battery inside it, but if you can see the laser, then it normally has enough power. Did you try pressing the PAIR button on the bottom of it? You can also try pulling out the receiver unit from the USB socket and reinsert it.

Microsoft Notebook optical mouse 3000 not working

Have you tried changing the port in which the USB wireless receiver is plugged?

Or is the receiver internal to the notebook?

If the receiver is internal, try updating the drivers for your machine by navigating to the manufacturer's support site.

If you plug a wired mouse into the machine what happens? If you get the same result, it may indicate a problem with the USB settings on your machine. I would, again, suggest updating the drivers for your machine.

If that's the case, try plugging another USB device into the machine and see if it works properly.

If none of those options provide results, I recommend you return the mouse for a refund or a replacement, especially if you have the receipt.

I hope I was able to help you. Good luck!

Microsoft wireless mouse 3000 - all lights are on; flash upon reset, but still doesn't work. Running Vista 64-bit.

Try to take off battery and next push and hold down the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed in the mouse, put back battery and simultaneusly release the button,it might make the mouse operate correctly. Good luck!!!! Chawah.

MS wireless notebook mouse 3000 not working?

A friend of mine brought me this problem with exactly the same problem. here is what I found. The small notch in usb device socket under the mouse was malfunctioning. If you press this notch you will find the mouse red light blink. If you further try pressing this notch at some point the mouse red light comes on constantly. Thats it, hold it there and try to connect first by pressing the usb device connect switch and then the mouse connect switch. The moment the connection is made the usb device stops blinking and the red light on the mouse starts blinking. Wow, it works now. Some one might just open the mouse and fix this microswtich for a permanent solution.
