Thermastate isnt reading right how to recalibrate

If your oven is 150 degrees out of calibration you need to replace the thermostat. More than 50 degrees and you are wasting your time trying to calibrate it, it will just drift right back out.

I appreciate your post, Ronald!

From the information you have provided you would like to calibrate the oven temperature on your Frigidaire range. I was unable to locate any instructions on how to perform a calibration on your oven. I would recommend consulting with a professional technician for proper calibration of your range. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Oven temp not correct

One thing you should know about a gas oven is that they do not keep a constant tempature like an electric oven does. So going by a tempature gauge in the oven can fool you. The way a gas oven works is by "average" tempature. In other words if you take the highest and lowest tempature readings and average them out you will get the actual tempature. For example let's say that you set the oven to 350. Well first it will take about 10 to 15 minutes for the oven to properly pre-heat. Once it is preheated you can listen to the gas burner and watch a tempature gauge(flook meter is best). When the gas burner shuts off the oven tempature will continue to rise. When the oven tempature stops rising then you will take that reading. Then wait for the oven burner to come back on again and watch the tempature gauge. When the tempature gets to it's lowest point and stops then take that reading. Do this several times and then take all the tempature readings and add them together then divide that number by the number of readings you took and that will give you the actual tempature. Within 5 degrees is great but anything over 10 degrees can affect your cooking. This will give you an idea if your oven is out of calibration or not.

There is a calibration procedure. The instuctions are located in the owners manual and can be found here http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-85131.PDF

Just go to the "Thermostat Adjustment" section for the proper calibration procedure.

Oven won't get up to higher heats

Both bake elements still work? Both top and bottom bake elements?

It is possible that the thermostat on your oven needs calibration. However, major errors in temperature may be the result of a bad heating element, blown fuse or tripped breaker, a door that doesn't close or seal properly, etc. Confirm that the oven is in otherwise good operating condition before attempting calibration.

Most thermostats have a calibration screw located under the knob. Try pulling the knob off and look at the shaft. Some shafts have a small screw located in the center. Rotating this screw will change the trip point at which the thermostat will turn on and off. This is determined by the sensor located inside the oven itself. Some other schemes allow for the entire control to rotate with respect to the scale. You will need to identify the type used on your oven

Let me know if I can help you to recalibrate, but I recommend calling an appliance serviceperson because they'll have thermostats and know how to adjust your temperature calibration.

G E oven temp fluctuation

No, that is just fine. As a matter of fact, older ranges often had 50 to 60 degree swings in temp. Your oven temp (assuming your thermometer is dead on accurate) is 347 + 365 / 2 = 356 degrees when set at 350. I never mess with ovens which are within 10 degrees of set temp. (when checking the temps, make sure to take the readings after the oven has cycled on and off at least three times, and use a good digital oven calibration thermometer)

Kitchen Aid oven does not get up to temp.

you can only calibrate the oven + or - 35 degrees. if you are over 35 degrees off you will need to ohm your temperature probe to see if you get about 1280 ohms if you do then you need to replace the clock control. if you ohm the temperature probe and you are off by more than 10% then you will need to replace the probe. in most cases both the control and probe would need to be replaced.

Jenn-air stove temperature not constant

Sounds like your oven probe sensor has got issues. Pretty easy to fix, just look inside oven for the probe (small round cyclinder, about a pencil width or smaller, mounted usually in the back top corners), remove the two screws, then slide it out. Some models have the probes where you will have to take the back off to get to them. If your probe is ok, then you might possibly have an issue with your main oven control, which may be computer or knob type. These (especially if computer driven) can be very expensive to fix, and some need calibration. Good luck and let me know if you need any other assistance.

When foods come out burned, soggy, or unevenly baked, it generally means heat isn't being distributed evenly throughout the oven, it's escaping out the door, or the controls are out of adjustment. 1) Remove any aluminum foil from racks or the bottom of the oven.

2) Check the door gasket, and, if necessary, replace it.

3) Be sure nothing is obstructing the vent.

4) Reposition the oven racks so baking pans aren't too close to the heat sources.

5) Check your baking pans. If they're dark, they may be burning your food. Reduce the temperature by 25 degrees Fahrenheit when baking in dark metal or glass pans.

You can also recalibrate the controls. If your oven has calibration right on the knob, you can calibrate the appliance as follows. If it doesn't, call an appliance repairperson. To adjust the thermostat's calibration:

1) Remove the oven temperature knob by pulling it off its shaft.

2) Notice the current setting, and then move the pointer in either direction to adjust its temperature slightly up or down. It's intentionally difficult to move the pointer on some models; if this is the case, you'll have to remove a couple of screws. Figure that moving it one notch will change the setting by 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

3) For more accurate calibration, call an appliance repairperson.
