I continued to search the internet and found a site that offered the info needed to open up the dryer to gain access to get to the ignitor. Buy removing 2 screws in the top of the door opening to remove the top and removing 2 screws at the top inside wall panel it removed the whole front.

Just put a ignitor for my ge gas dryer it ignites the gas after 2 min flame goes out

This is usually the dryer coils have failed. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a video on replacing the dryer coils.

GE Profile gas dryer tumbles but NO HEAT, not ignitor

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Have a GE gas dryer and I just replaced the ignighter. The dryer worked twice before it stoped glowing. How can I test the coils to see if this is the problem.

You'll need a circuit tester which is able to reach the ignitor. Check the circuit to ensure adequate amps reach ignitor coil. If the tester indicates a fault or short any new ignitor will simply fail after a use or 2. Also check the gas line were it enters the dryer. Many have an auto shutoff which cuts the gas off if it detects a problem. Some models also cut power as well.

GE Dryer DDG7580B does not heat. vents are clear, dryer tumbles, just no gas ignition. Other gas appliances working well. Help!

Replace the ceramic ignitor WE4X444. An easy fix. Nut is on the gas valve (not the line) to remove the burner assembly to replace the ignitor.

Good luck..

No heat. Assuming ignitor is bad. How do you replace it? For a GE DDG5780GDL WH gas dryer

Thanks for getting back. I did fix my dryer. After viewing exploded views of the dryer cabinet (on-line) and learning where the ignitor was located. I removed it, checked the resistance and discovered some corrosion had built-up on one side of the ignitor. I scraped it away, re-assembled everything and it worked.

GE Gas Dryer (Model DQSR 483) Drum works but does not heat

There are three things besides what you aleady checked:
1. Open the small access door in front of the dryer and start the heat cycle. The ignitor must glow a bright orange so that it is hot enough to light the gas. If there is no orange glow, then the ignior needs replacement.

2. If it glows then cuts off, then glows, again and cuts off, the thermocouple sensor wire is out of position. It needs to be very, very close to the ignitor. This thermocouple sends a temperature signal when it senses that the ignitor is hot enough to ignite the gas. Unplug the dryer. Re-position the thermocouple wire mount so that the thermocouple wire is almost touching the ignitor. You may also "bend" the wire. Plug power back on and heat.

3. If it still does not heat, then the automatic gas valve that is controlled by the thermocouple sending unit is broken. The automatic gas valve cannot be safely "fixed" and must be replaced.
Hope it's just the thermocouple wire.
