With the small amount of details you provided it sounds like either the battery is totally dead or the motherboard has a serious error. Try taking the battery out and holding the power button down for at least 20 seconds. Then plug in your charger to the laptop without reinstalling the battery. If you get no lights showing then most likely your power supply port is bad or your motherboard has a short. IF it does light up then try to turn the laptop on. You may just have a really bad battery.
You need to check first if the wireless switch is turn on.If it is on, check the function key for the wireless. Some computers have function key. Sometimes it is combination of fn and f5. Press those keys at the same time and you should see a pop up window and check if the current status is on. If it is on, uninstall/reinstall the wireless driver in device manager. and restart your computer. If this didn't work. You need to do re installation of your operating system.
The cmos battery is usually located under the keyboard section...you may have to take a couple other things out,but carefully remember where it all goes back..or you will have a non working laptop:)

your battery may have memory OR it is on the battery recall list because it is defective try the manufacturer's site and see if the battery is being recalled
Try to find a BIOS Update. To check that BIOS update is avaialble, visit http://www.compaq.com select your product and find the BIOS update in support or download section. It may solve the problem. ([email protected])
We have the same problem on a Compaq F730 US laptop. There is a massive recall going on right now with HP/Compaq motherboards. It mostly affects the wireless adapter. Do some internet research and look on HP's website and see if your model # is included in the recall. If it's not, it should be! Let HP know about it. There is also a BATTERY RECALL on the exact same model. Now we know why Compaq went out of business!
