Question about Computers & Internet

PCI G802 wireless adapter installed, can't get on internet

On a new computer we put a PCI-G802 wireless network adapter. When we try to connect to the internet, it says we must use one of the programs listed to get on. None of the programs will allow us access. Also, when I go to network connections, it's not showing anything. There should be LAN or High-Speed Internet, but there is nothing showing.

Of course we followed the steps using the CD and the book that accompanied the CD and adapter. We've even uninstalled and reinstalled.

I went into My Computer Properties, but there's no red icon, only green and it is saying 54 M Wireless LAN Network Adapter #2, so the adapter has been successfully added. When I go into Network Connections, though, nothing is showing, which is weird since it is showing up in My Computer.

I thought I was guanteed a solution for the money I spent on this program. So far, I've only had one response that made sense, which I checked. The hardware shows up on my computer, but still doesn't get me to the internet on that computer.

You must install driver included with PCI adapter using driver CD. Follow the steps shown during installation. Your Adapter will start successfully.

Just right click on My Computer >> Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager >> Network Adaptors

Check if you see list of Network Adaptors . If there you see any red icon on the network adaptor list, you must intall the driver accuratly.

Go to control panel >> Network connections

check if particular connection is in Gray state i.e not disabled. if it is , pls enable it by double clicking on the icon.

Now, you should remove your PCI adapter from the computer. First install the Driver then shutdown the computer. then put the PCI adapter in your computer. i guess it should be okey now..

Dell Inspiron ethernet card plug bad, either send tower to Dell for 3 weeks or replace and bypass with new ethernet card PCI, any problems with doing this?

There should not be any problem with you buying your own PCI ethernet card and install it yourself. They are not that expensive. www.newegg.com has on for only $7.99 and it will work fine in your computer. It does not need to be from Dell.

Computer Will not start with my new pci device

Remove the card and install again making sure it goes all the way in..( and/or installing on another slot.. Make sure theres no hair or dust goes in the slot.. If problem persist, 1. You probably need to access bios n configure/enable the pci ports.. 2. The power supply is insufficient.

yes, the manufacturer doesn't really matter as long as they are 802.11g (usually backwards compatible with a and b) so as long as the router and the adapters are installed properly NO problem

Linksys Wireless-N pci adapter model wmp300n

If it says local or unidentified network that means you are just connected to the router on the network but not through the internet. Try to go to manage wireless network, remover your network there and add it again, connect to your own network and make sure to type the correct network key., then check again. You can also try connecting to other wireless network to further isolate the problem.

General Networking question

lets see here, your NVIDIA thing is for your ethernet port in your computer.

the wireless PCI adapter, is well, a wireless adapter, its used to connect your wireless, and a 1394 Net Adaptor Connection is basically Win2k/XP's way of telling you that you have a Firewire interface installed in your system.

so, if your going wireless, you dont need NVIDIA, and as your device manager shows that it has a red x on it, it shows that its disabled. as for everything else, i wouldent worry about it.
