Resetting a computer only resets the KAM (keep alive memory), back to factory defaults. This is what the computer learns from your driving habits. What's the problem? why do you want to reset the computer? If the check engine light is on, it will only go off if the problem was fixed. If you don't have a scanner to turn it off, it will go off after several key on and off's. Again, if the problem was fixed. Just a note, it takes 30 minutes to reset the KAM.
The sec displayed is security code in case radio is stolen it cant be used without entering the code. Owner may have disconnected battery and didnt put a memory saver in lighter outlet so it locked. If you go to dealer they can retrive the code for you then you enter code and radio should work.unless they changed the factory code. If not and code from dealer works keep in car or safe place so you have it. Usually no charge to do retrival at dealer takes 2 minutes. Hope this helps
You will need to remove the radio and look at the rear for the input, if your radio doesnt have an input you can buy the kit to connect it to sirrus and instead of direct connect you can use a radio station to connect to sirrus, most newwer cars and trucks will come with an input but lower brand radios may not. the only way would be to remove the radio and check , dont reinstall radio if you plan on getting the adapt kit.
ford windstar radio fuse number and location.1996-1998: fuse #13 1999-2003: fuse #25 Note: other fuses protect the lighting controls, and possibly the rear radio control (#6 in 1999+).There are 2 fuse boxes / fuse panels in nearly every Ford product: one directly above the driver's left foot (when the driver is actually sitting in the driver's seat). The other is inside the engine compartment, on the right side - contains high current fuses. check in both sections for any blown fuse. This will help. Thanks please keep updated. please do rate the solution positively
.thank you for using fixya
There are only 2 things you can try to fix this yourself: turn off the engine and open the driver side door (to turn the radio off). Wait 5 minutes, start your car. If that does not solve it, turn off your engine, disconnect the car battery, wait about 5 minutes. Reconnect the battery (negative pole first - black connector) and try your radio again.
If neither one of these two fix your problem, I am afraid only a GM service center or dealership can fix the problem. The Cobalt is notorious for all kinds of electrical issues.
