Clarke air compressor ac2500 - not working - no compression

Was using my compressor today with a brad nailer and it was working find. Suddenly the compressor starting making a huming sound. I turned it on and off, several times, checking the fitting, but no luck. Isthe humming a sympton of the motor seizing? I have not used it much and have not did any maintenance. Help

sounds like either the motor or the pump may be at fault

is the unit belt driven? If so remove the belt and by simly turning the pulleys will tell you witch is at fault ,otherwise you will have to take the motor of the pump on a direct drive unit to find wich one is at fault .please contact me again once you know and hopefully i may be of further assistance

    best of luck ian

Your pressue builds up and stays trapped in head which causes the motor to lock up. Your pressure switch is probably bad.

Check the position of the switches and selectors. It sounds like you are in between settings. Also, put in a few drops of oil, and try your gun out on scrap wood, so oil doesn't come out on your good work.

Does the brad nailer only use 2" brads or cam smaller nails be used also

Most nail guns are labeled with the longest nail/brad they can shoot but are capable of shooting shorter nails/brads. There should be a data sticker on the gun, usually on the magazine rail, or at least in the manual that tells you what pressure to operate the gun at, what guage brads the gun can shoot and the size of brads from shortest to longest it can handle.

I have a Porter Cable brad nailer BN125A, at 125 PSI and depth adjustement turned to the deepest drive setting, the brad does not set flush with the surface. Problem?

A brad nailer in good working order, set to the deepest setting and using 125psi should almost shoot the brad through the wood. If you have been oiling the gun properly (three to four drops at he beginning of your work session and again in the afternoon if under constant use) then you probably have some worn o-rings inside the gun. Porter Cable makes a driver maintenance kit (PN1001 60062) for your gun that will make it work like new.

Check the regulator gauge on your air compressor to make sure you have enough air pressure going to your nailer. After replacing my nailer because the driver wouldn't retract, I discovered, when the replacement nailer had the same problem, that I had somehow turned the regulator and decreased the pressure. Now I have two fully operational nailers.

Sounds like a trigger seal. I assume this is an oil-less brad nailer as that is the standard. You should be able to find the seals at any local hardware store including Home Depot or Lowes. If you can't find the portercable O-rings just grab the random assortment from Bostitch which is usually readily available. Refer to your parts manual for the correct size/gauge

is that a model AF505? if it is, your problem may be the gauge. make sure you use 18 gauge nails, he 16 gauge are too big and will jam in the gun.

Air stapler leaks air through ''nose''

This sounds like one of the O-rings has failed. Yes it can be fixed. Check to see if HD has an O-ring kit for these guns. That kit will contain all of the O-rings as well as the lubricants for a total rebuild. That should resolve your problem.
