I have an Aprilaire 1700 that runs for a few minutes and quits. I assume that it must need a refrigerant. I believe it takes R410a but what should be the inlet and outlet pressures?

I've cleaned the filters and other "easy" fixes. I'm not certain all the inputs to the "Test" light and to trip the unit. I'm assuming that compressor outlet pressure maybe one.

SOURCE: what does a blinking green status light mean on

http://dl.owneriq.net/a/a64a1426-8226-4b14-9621-800688d1ff17.pdf
her is a manual and will cover the usage and settings ..but for flashing green lights ...it indicates a malfunction ...and it can only be something related with the drain ..water tank or the fildter needed to be cleaned or changed..
Check the water tank to be on level .and also see if it has a floater inside, that can be stuck .if it has one ..this is for to sense the presence or absence of the water..(shake it good if you think it is stuck ..
Another operation is to clean the filter ..The filter should be cleaned or changed (if damaged ) once a year ..but in some conditions ..it needs to be cleaned more often ..The cleaning is made under he tap with warm (not hot ) water..
The drain trap or outlet should be checked and cleaned of debris annually. Flush it with water
under pressure to ensure opening is clear.
if all that is done and still blinking ..than there is something physically wrong on the fan area ..and this should be checked by a repair-man

Haier CPN12XH9 Portlable Air Conditioner/Heater - The upper water plug (which I can't find a picture of on any manual) accumulates water while the lower tank (where water should be) is dry. Unit is only...

Not up on the unit, but water condenses on the evaporator of an a/c unit dropping onto a tray, as self evaporating, would assume that the drain from that tray is fed to the top of the compresor, which will have a tray around the top, heat from the compressor will evaporate the water, same as with a fridge. In dehumidifier mode, water would need to be collected, rather than evaporated back into the atmosphere, defeats the object other wise. so is lower tank around compressor? that would be for a/c mode upper tank for dehumidifier

I have a customer who has a model 1700 dehumidifier Connected to ductwork with a/c only air handler. Not Sure why this is needed or correct way to wire. Also There is no remote humidifier & unit is...

I have to agree with you. I don't see the need for the dehumidifier either. As the AC unit alone, does have some dehumidifying capability.

Your customer would be better served using an independent Low Temp dehumidifier in the basement. If that's the area they are trying to dehumidify because of dampness in the basement.. It certainly would be less costly to operate. But, any unit that is not a Low Temp unit won't work well in a basement.

I hope this helps and good luck convincing your customer of this.

What is the proper setting for Danby R410A?

R410A is refrigerant gas. I think you wanted to know, what humidity extraction level the controls should be set on. If it is really hot and humid in your area, set the humidity extraction level between 35 & 40%. If you have a mechanical control, turn the knob to Maximum.

Hope this helped you, Bradleyjo. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have an Aprilaire 1750 installed inline with my upstairs central air system in the attic. The unit's ducting appears to be installed as indicated in the installation manual, but when the unit is running...

Your dehumidifier is likely working correctly. When operating and removing moisture, a dehumidifier will supply warm/hot air to your house. Your dehumidifier moves less air than your A/C, so your supply ductwork in your house is oversized for the dehumidifier. This will lead to uneven feeding of your supply duct branches with just the dehumidifier operating.

Since your dehumidifier is installed in the attic, make sure that the ducting connected to it is well insulated. Also make sure that your dehumidifier cabinet is insulated. These actions will help prevent heat gain from the hot air in your attic.

Is your dehumidifier bringing in fresh air from outside? If the outside air is hot and humid, the dehumidifier will supply warmer air to your home.

Some people run their A/C fans continuously to help with the air distribution, but this is a bad idea since it increases energy usage considerably.

Fan runs but does not collect water

It sounds as though the compressor is not running or the machine is low or out of refrigerant.

Dehumidifier ices up

unplug and take unit apart, blow out dust then carefully spray some cleaner-degreaser on and wash both condenser and evaporator coils, then let dry throughly, try not to soak the electrics too much a little will dry, let dry throughly then start it and leave it run a few minutes carefully touch top of compressor head,if quite warm and one line isn't hot and the other line isn't cold entering and exiting the compressor and evap coil starts to ice again you may be low on freon(refrigerant)
