With notebooks and tablet pc's, the bios is usualy permanantly damaged once something goes wrong with instaling a new bios

Why did you try to update the BIOS? You usually don't need to unless you're experiencing problems.

What method did you use to try to update it? Meaning, how did you do it?

If you can't get it to boot, you probably wiped or damaged it. I'm not familiar with tablet PCs. If it was a desktop, you could use jumper settings to reset it.

I would call Acer on the telephone and ask them what is going on. This sounds like their problem to me.

We recently acquired a Posiflex JIVA TP8000. When I attempt to start the system, nothing turns on.

This is due to a setting change inside the Bios. You will have to reset the Bios using the jumper options on the mainboard underneath the touch screen or remove the CMOS battery the powering the machine on.

Hi rnb brother,

It sounds like you may need to udate you BIOS. It may be a memory allocation issue. This is an issue when the accessed/pointed memory allocation does not totally close, allowing a little bit of info out to disrupt normal operation. BIOS is closely related to access/pointed memory allocation and upon udating will close this path competely. I hope this helped a little, if not, hit me back, we have other options i.e. running dual cards.

Thank you for using

I recently moved into a new office and was given a pc, but I am unable to boot up as the previous user set a black screen password...what should i do??

sounds like it may be a BIOS password, when you reboot do you get any thing on the screen? is there an option to "press DEL to enter setup" or similar?

If so go into the BIOS and see if the password can be reset or removed there.

If it is a bios p[assword, you may be able to clear the BIOS by removing the BIOS battery whith the power OFF
