Vista 64 bit. What I find extremely confusing is how this got here in the first place. I did not put it here, as far as I remember.

Please look here for the question I actually remember submitting and just did.

    Sorry for the inconvienence.

  • xpok7 Dec 27, 2008

    i) I am not installing drivers from the CD. However, I did try installing the drivers from the CD and got the same error.

ii) The Sapphire 4850 is a relatively new graphics card (not the physical thing, but the item itself). I am using Vista, and the drivers are not too old.

iii) I did not try another Driver CD, but I did download drivers from the internet multiple times from the official AMD website. I got the same error every time.

iv) There is no file corruption unless I am downloading a corrupted file. My system is virus-free (as said by AVG and Spybot S&D).

I did what you tried, but it said the inf file was still missing. Do you think I should put it in the ATI folders too?

  • xpok7 Dec 27, 2008

Tried putting it into the ATI folders. Didn't work. Anything else you know of that I can try?

  • xpok7 Dec 31, 2008

I solved it, installed drivers manually with AMD tech support help. Thanks for trying, everyone.

yes, definitely try putting the file into the ATI's folders as well

if you put it into the ATI folders, place it in here:
    C:\Program Files\ATI\CIM\Bin
    C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE

if you cant find some of those those folders, don't worry about it, some ATI G-Cards are slightly different, just ignore putting it into that folder

i) if you are trying install drivers from CD try to make sure that CD is in working or good condtion(i mean    no scratches, no spots, dots, breaks.....)

ii) if this CD came withur computer  and if it is too old..... then there is possibility of  loss of data on the       CD.

iii) try another Driver CD if you have it or download it from internet, if it is working then surely there is           some problem with ur old CD

iv) or if you have Setup directly on your computer and you are installing from ur system rather than CD then they may be some file corruption(due to virus.....)

Thanking You,

Unable to install drivers for my nvidia graphic card

Each driver has its own INF file are provided next to the driver download. You must replace the INF file with Modifed downloaded from nVidia. But before installing the driver did you install the NVIDIA drivers any other form? I had the same problem and I installed the driver provided by Dell original first, then updated to the current driver. Try not to install the new driver and the first thing will be done

Try a manual installation of the driver via device manager, the content of the driver is usually unpacked to c:\nvidia. Run the inf file in this folder. This trick always works for me when i come accross any system driver which doesn't works properly.

I have a Dell Vostro 400 and two video cards. Only one card will work and it is an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200.The other one is an ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO. These are the specs from the two graphics cards:...

you cant join two different platform vga cards. simply because they have their own platform and have separate drivers, so they conflict each other thus causing one of them shut off or disable..

Sync to computer problems. can't install lgusbmodem.inf file.

If you're using Wwindows, go to your control panel then programs and features, LG USB Modem Driver (if it's there) and uninstall it. If it isn't there, go to your Windows explorer and perform a search and look for the lgusbmodem.inf and delete it from the computer once you find it. Reboot. Download the LG USB Modem Driver from here:
and install it. If you get the same problem then it is an issue with your Windows installation and not your driver.

I have Aspire 4730Z acer laptop. but can't install blue tooth. when going to install driver from utility CD showing no device found. let me clear how can I resolve the problem

Method 1: Rename the Bth.inf file loadTOCNode(2, 'workaround'); Rename the %WINDIR%\inf\Bth.inf file to Bth.bak before you install or reinstall the third-party device or stack. When you rename the file, you prevent Windows Plug and Play PNP from using that INF file to install the Bluetooth driver that is included with Windows XP SP2. To rename the file, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type %windir%\inf in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Right-click Bth.inf, and then click Rename.
  3. Rename Bth.inf to Bth.bak, and then press ENTER.
  4. Install the third-party Bluetooth driver.

Method 2: Update the Bluetooth driver in Device Manager loadTOCNode(2, 'workaround'); To replace the Windows XP SP2 installation of the Bluetooth stack, update the driver in Device Manager. When you do this, specify your third-party driver. To update the driver in Device Manager, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate the device.
  3. Right-click the device, and then click Update Driver.
  4. Follow the steps that appear on the screen in the Hardware Update Wizard to specify your third-party driver for the Bluetooth device.

Driver Install INF Error

Physically uninstall the 4850. Now download and install "Revo uninstaller" (FREE). Use this tool to completely uninstall any and all software associated with the 4850. Next run system restore and restore your computer to a date prior to your original physical installation of the card. The computer should now re-start to it's condition before the 4850. Now you can begin a PROPER installation by first installing the SOFTWARE that came with the card and following the instructions to install the card afterward. Remember, Windows likes software FIRST.

P.S. If you want to run with the big dogs - carry a map.

Hey Alien - try this :

A manual installation Will solve this
1.Download and install ATI Catalyst Control Center. try this link
2.The installation will extract the files to your hard drive Eg. C:\ATI\SUPPORT
In the folder "SUPPORT" there are two other folders.Open the folder labeled "8-3_xp32_dd_59746" you will see a folder labeled "XP_INF" thats all you need

To install the the Driver open device Manager
1. locate the "Video controller"
2. Right click Select "Update Driver"
3. Hardware update wizard appears select "No Not this time" and click next
4. select "install from a list or specific location." Click next
5. select "Don't search I will Choose the driver to install" Click next
6. Search for "Display Adapters"
7. Click "have disk" and then Browse
in the "XP_INF" Folder is the File "CX_59746.inf" bubble Click to open and then click OK
8. scroll to ATI radeon xpress 200m series select and click next
