When I turn my computer on the screen acts as if in sleep mode

The screen on the monitor is yellow when I turn my computer on. It acts as though it's in sleep mode. Is it a monitor problem? This desktop was purchased in 2001. I do not have the model number, but it is a desktop.

It is likely not a problem with the monitor, because the lights indicate that the monitor is turned on.

It may be a video card problem. Do you know if you have a video card, or if it is integrated graphics? Check all of the connections from the monitor to the computer. If you can connect the monitor to another computer and it works, then it is definitely your computer.

Very, very unlikely, but it could be that you're using a damaged cable. If you have another one on hand, try it. If not, don't go and buy one because this likely isn't the problem.

Another thing you could try is turning the computer off, unplugging the power cable (going to your computer), and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Then plug it in again and power it up.

I posted this solution in your other topic. No need to make more than one.

My computer goes into sleep mode when i turn it on

The computer is not going into sleep mode. it is a problem though. Your computer is not giving a video signal to the monitor and it is the monitor going into "Sleep mode".This could be any number of things -but an easy fix is to check your RAM and that your connections are all good. (not necessarily in that order).

When you say computer clock do you mean the LED read out on the mother board? if so the numbers you are seeing are error codes you will need the mother board manual to know what those codes mean. If you don't have the manual it's possible you can go to the mother board manufacturers web site and download one then you can look up the codes to see what the problems are. Hope this helps

Dell monitor flashing green power button black screen.

Your computer is in sleep mode, a low power mode that conserves power by turning off the screen and hard drive.

Push the power button on the system and the computer will resume.

If you don't like this feature, you can turn off sleep mode in the power options in Control Panel

Monitor keep going into "sleep" mode

Check the power setting in control panel of windows. If you have a monitor from another computer swap them and see if the problem stays with the computer or monitor.

Monitor rejects computer

I'm just guessing, but it could be that the resolution you are using on your MS-DOS monitor is not compliant with the new monitor you are trying to use. Check the supported resolutions of the monitor that you would like to use, and then make sure you set that resolution before switching monitors.

My monitor goes to sleep mode at startup & can't access safe mode

Turn the computer off, open the case and remove the RAM. Does the computer beep when you turn it on with no RAM? If not, your motherboard is dead.

If your computer beeps, turn it off again and try putting one stick of RAM in. If the computer doesn't turn on normally, try the other stick of RAM.

Also, try taking out the video card and putting it back in.

Good luck,
Jason
