Ok i think i know what you mean. i had the sme problem. first totally remove all quicktime and iTunes. then go back to apple.com and download iTunes. Quicktime should install with it. Or it should pop up saying if you want to.

I can't find my itunes on my desktop

Click start all programs navigate to iTunes right click select send to desktop to make short cut , or pin to task bar might be another option depending on your operating system.

or you might download iTunes and Quick time again.
Enter http://www.apple.com/itunes in your address bar or conduct a search for "iTunes download" to find the link. Click on the iTunes free download link. It is located on the right side of the page. This will take you to the main download page for iTunes software. Enter your email address and then click the box that is labeled "Download Now." This will bring up a box that asks if you would like to run or save the program. Click whichever you like, but by clicking "run," the process will start automatically. After the download is complete, click "run" again, as this will start the installation process. If you have opted to save the program first, locate it in the directory you have chosen and double-click on the iTunes setup program. Follow the installation prompts, including accepting the terms and conditions and indicating where you would like the directory to be created. Continue to follow the steps included with the setup assistant. This will allow you to customize the options, including assigning certain properties to files. You can play all your MP3s through the iTunes interface or set iTunes as your default audio player. Installing QuickTime Go to http://www.apple.com and click the "Downloads" item on the top menu bar. You will then have the option of installing QuickTime. This program allows you to watch streaming video on the Internet, as well as play other multimedia files, such as .AVI files. Click the "Download" button beneath the QuickTime logo. This action will take you to the main QuickTime download screen, where you will be prompted to enter your email address and continue on by clicking "Free Download Now." Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 from above to install QuickTime on your computer. Be sure to read the information in each box carefully and accept the terms and conditions of use. Version 11.0.2 Added on 02/20/2013 Manage your music and movie libraries on your PC, iPod or iPhone.

Go into control panel/add remove programs and make sure you remove any Apple remnants of programs. Do you have USB 2? I have had problems using mine on USB 1 as it was too slow. Hope this helps some.

I pod quictime issue

This should be easy but it is still hassle. You need to go to apples web site, apple.com/downloads and download quicktime from there. If that doesn't work you will need to reinstall itunes which will automatically intall everything it needs. QuickTime actually runs alot of things from your itunes to clips on the internet. Good luck

Hey 0836,

If the error message you are seeing reads as "QuickTime failed to initialize. Error # - 2096" you may wish to turn off Compatibility Mode for QuickTime, as doing so may resolve this problem.

You should be able to disable Compatibility Mode by doing the following:

1) Right-click on the QuickTime Player program and choose the "Properties" option from the menu that appears. Normally the application is kept in the C:\Program Files\QuickTime directory, but may differ if you chose to have the program installed onto another hard drive or in another directory.

2) Once in the "Properties" menu, click on the "Compatibility" tab.

3) Uncheck the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode" if it is currently selected.

4) Click on the "Apply" button.

If QuickTime was not initially in Compatibility Mode, and you still receive an error message prompting you that iTunes requires Windows 2000 or later (or prompts you to make sure that compatibility mode is disabled in iTunes.exe), you may wish to try the following instead:

1) Shut down iTunes.

2) Click on the "Start" menu, then on "My Computer." You can generally also double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop as an alternative.

3) Once in "My Computer," open the drive where Windows XP is installed. Typically this is the C:\ drive, but please remember that your configuration may slightly differ if you have multiple hard drives.

4) Open the "Program Files" folder.

5) Open the "iTunes" program folder.

6) Next, right-click on the iTunes program - this may be listed as either iTunes or iTunes.exe. Once you have done so, choose "Properties" from the menu that appears.

7) Click on the "Compatibility" tab, and uncheck the option to run in Compatibility Mode if it is selected.

8) Click "OK" to accept the new settings.

One of these two solutions should hopefully resolve the problem, but I would strongly suggest visting Apple's support homepage for more information if you are unsure of how to proceed.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
