F10 /F30 error codes on 2006 Kenmore Elite Range model 790.4671

Toward the end of the cleaning cycle my range started beeping with the following error codes F10/F30/F10. I turned off the breaker, it will continue to flash error code F10 when turned back on. This is the 2nd time that this has happend. This happend the very first time I cleaned the range. It was still under warranty and was fixed by replacing the Contoller for a total of $244.33 (Part cost). How can I find out what the error codes mean and what might need to be replaced without a expensive repair bill? Thanks, T

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand on most Kenmore range models, the error codes would indicate that:

  • F10 - runaway temperature
  • F30 - open probe connection
What this tells us is that it is possible for the oven to heat up beyond normal settings/temperature. What this really means is that the control board has lost a sensor and can no longer monitor the temperature of the oven. This being the case and for safety reasons, the control board simply disabled the oven.
Unfortunately, the error code indicates a possible hardware fault, the good news is that it is user repairable and parts are readily available.
"The problem is a sensor switch which is accessible from the back after sheet metal cover is removed. Looking from the back it was located on the upper right with 2 wires connected to it and a red button in the center. Do all this with power breaker OFF! Push in the red button which resets switch and everything will work until you use the self clean again. Easy to replace switch and you can order new one here It cost $10.00 plus handling about $16.00."

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

    F12 - Bad Micro Identification
    F13 - Bad EEPROM Identification/Checksum error.

    F30 - Open probe conection

btw, our F30 error was caused b/c a wire in a quick-connect came loose. once we tightened it again, the oven worked fine.

I continue to get code F11 on my Kenmore Elite Gas Range Oven and therefore, I am unable to unlock / open my oven door. I have pressed and held down the STOP button as well as the oven light button.

Your model number should be much longer than 790 30 Open drawers and doors to look for the whole model number around the frame.

With the whole model number you can get more information at Sears Parts Direct. There are parts diagrams and user manuals and you can order parts.

Why does my kenmore range beep and show an error code every time I open the oven door?

Also
Sometimes shutting off the circuit breaker that the range or oven is connected to for 30 seconds will clear the fault, error or function code.

Also
F3 or F30 means that there may be a problem with the oven sensor.
Your oven sensor may need to be replaced.

Sorry to read about your problem
Your F10 code means Runaway Temperature and f30 means open probe connection. try this and see problem comes back.
1. Unplug the unit or turn the circuit breaker off for 60 seconds.
2. Now, restore the power to the appliance by plugging it back in or turning the circuit breaker back on.
3. Check to see if the error code is still displayed on the range.

Our figidaire electronic stove/oven model PLES399ECD, serial number NF62311528, mfg'd 2/2006 has an error code for F30 when any program is selected. The manual does not list F30, what is F30?

Open (F30) or shorted (F31) RTD sensor
probe/ wiring problem. Note: EOC may
initially display an "F10", thinking a
runaway condition exists.

1- Press Cancel key.
2- Check wiring in probe circuit for possible short or open
condition. Check RTD resistance at room temperature
(compare to probe resistance chart). If resistance does not
match the chart, replace the RTD sensor probe. Let the oven
cool down and restart the function.
3- If the problem persists replace the relay board.

Kenmore Elite Range/Oven problem.

My kenmore glass top stainless steel slide in range has an error message code F93. I was attempting to allow my range to self clean when this err message appeared. Now I can't get the door unlocked. Help?? We've had a lot of problems with this range. We've had the service tech come out probably 4-5 times for different things. I think I got a lemon. It just turn a year old-we extended the warranty . I've called to complain but I got no help. They said it had to be for the same problem each time. Even the tech said the oven was a lemon but he couldn't help us. Any suggestions?

Kenmore Elite slide in range F30 error

I had the same F30 error problem but fixed it. On my professional series Frigidaire, there are 2 resettable red button locations. I discovered that only one is in the rear of the oven. After going to the breaker box and shutting off the power, pull out the stove enough to work, unscrew the rear screws (I didn't unscrew all of them, just enough to work back there). The small red button is on a small black round piece with two purple wires feeding to it. That was not my problem. Mine was the other red button behind the control panel. Pull off all 4 knobs, unscrew by hand the large black rings that are underneath the knobs, pull out the whole panel. Look back and right (below where the right knobs were located) to find the 2nd red small button. Push to reset. Check this one first since it is easier to do.
