Wireless button does not light up when depressed

I have recently had a few problems with wireless access. I have a new cable modem and a new Linksys router with access point. Can not connect to internet after going through setup of router. I just noticed that the wireless icon button to the left of the power button will not light up. Can I repair this or is this an issue that will require service technician?

There should be a switch or a key combination to turn on your wireless function in your laptop. Have you tried that?

Looking at the manual for your notebook, the light itself is also a button. Try pressing it and it should turn on.

try this if it does'nt work go back to were you bought it from and they will sort it for you for free,..it could be somting to do with the DNS settings,,
After all the things that I was trying, I had gone through and reset
the router and modem, not just by turning them off, but by depressing
the tiny reset button on the bottoms. This wasn't actually the
solution. In fact, it screwed up the modem and router so I had to go
back and manually set them up again, step by step. While doing so, my
mom told me about a the Linksys site www.linksys.com/check. Here
there was a variety of tools to streamline the installation process.
Again, didn't actually solve my problem of being able to access
webpages. But, while on that site, I saw a router firmware upgrade.
Looks like my router firmware was out of date. So, I
upgraded................problem solved.

I still don't understand why I could access everything google....and
other computers using the same router and adsl modem still worked

Go to Start > Search and type cmd ENTER. In the command prompt type ipconfig /release ENTER. Then type ipconfig /renew ENTER. This just refreshes your IP. Test it.

No wireless connection yet? - Connect the laptop with a network cable to the wireless router, and test internet.

Not yet? - Turn the router off and on. Test it with cable.

Not yet? - Connect the laptop with a network cable to the ISP modem and test.

Not yet? - Disconnect the modem power and cable / DSL connection. Wait a few minutes and reconnect. Then reset the modem by pushing in the reset button in the back. At this point you should have network. You may have to do the ipconfig again. Go ahead and test the wireless.

No internet access with wireless

Hi,

First of all check the DSL cable must be in WAN port of the linksys router. if it is done then do the following.

Actually DSL modem and Linksys router are conflicting with their IP class. Means DSL and Linksys routers are using the same IP class of 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.

You must change one's IP class because both are routers and if they having same class they cant communicate. Unplug the WAN cable of the linksys. open browser and put ip 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 any one which works for u in the address bar. Username and password hopefully be admin admin or just admin and password blank field.
when you access the linksys router configuration page then come to LAN configuration. If there IP is 192.168.1.1 then change it to 192.168.0.1 and if it is 192.168.0.1 then change it to 192.168.1.1 Save configuration and reboot your laptop and plug dsl cable to linksys WAN port.
Hope now this will work.

Yes. You need to configure the router. Most of the new routers come with a cd that will guide you. You can also call ATT and they will guide you as well.

Hope that helps you.

Toshiba M35X-S311 laptop that wireless will work anywhere but not at the house, have a linksys router. Everybody else can come over and connect wirelessly to my router but when I turn my wireless button...

First You can not connected the net by Safemode.
Second, Use the wire, connect the Linksys to your computer, and if you are using another modem, set this first using same SSID and password.
Then remove the cable and set the wireless (Before That while cable is on see the wireless on linksys home page and access it. to get your key number or set it up.)
If you can not, try to see Cisco systems user guide.

Dell D600 - Linksys wireless router/adapter

Seems there is a problem with the Linksys since there is not any lights coming on. Did you plug it into a switched outlet in the wall? Does it work if you plug the Linksys into an outlet in another room?
If you can get it to light up, the way you will access it is through your web browser. Type in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and a login in screen should pop up.
