Bad jpg message

I bought my wife a new Kodak frame and uploaded a bunch of our old jpgs. It seems like some work and some, I get a black screen and a bad jpg message. They were all scanned with the same scanner and all formatted as jpgs, some work, some don't. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

My problem is that the images are all fuzzy around the edges & most do not fit the frame properly, they are all jpeg. The pictures are on a scandisk card, on the computer they look fine but in the frame they look terrible. Any ideas?????

    thanking you

It can be a variety of problems, unfortunately. The images may just be truncated from the get go. Make sure all the extensions are lowercase .jpg. If they are not, OPEN them in a program, save as .jpg, close and reload them.

Make sure they are .jpg and not .jpeg

Do not try to just change the extension, this corrupts the image.

Also, check the size and make sure they are not too large.
For the digital picture frames, a 5x7 at 72 dpi is plenty big. Just make sure not to override the originals with the compressed images.

Then, check the name of the pictures. Remove any spaces, dashes or any other symbols. Strictly use letters.

When all else fails, delete all the images from the frame and reload them again.

How are you loading the images on the frame?
From a card, or directly from the computer?
If from a card, make sure to eject it from the computer first, don't just pull it from the reader. This can really messes it up and the images. Same goes with the frame itself.

Hope this helped.

Make sure that you have the latest firmware version. Get the latest at www.kodak.com/go/downloads. Also, you may rename the picture files like 001.jpg, 002.jpg so on and so forth.

You may try the online troubleshooting guide at www.kodak.com/go/itg and if it does not resolve the issue at the end of the guide you can fill out a form to send the frame for repair and also just an FYI the frame is warranty for one year and you must a copy of your receipt before sending the frame.

Poor graphics quality on MP4 video when uploaded to Utube

Unfortunately youtube has the nasty habit of compressing images, as well as MP4. Depending on the program you are using you might be able to increase the quality of the MP4 when you save it (MP4 compresses video into a smaller size by sacrificing pixel quality). However youtube does the same thing. The shorter (and smaller filesize) a video is, usually the less it gets compressed.

Try using DivX and save as an AVI if you have that option available. The better quality the video file the better a chance you'll have at uploading it to youtube.

I can't load photos onto my digital photo frame

The  A701 is  a bit cranky.  I've found that it prefers  USB  flash sticks of upto  2GB. It likes the flash stick formatting  before use.  And it prefers  jpg files  added  to the root directory of the flash stick -  so  no images in folders. Finally but probably least important, it's not much point uploading  2MB  jpgs as  the screen  is pretty much  72DPI  smaller size JPGS  lead to a faster loading. ( try  around 900x 600 dpi )

Insignia digital photo frame won't recognize some .jpgs

When you save in Photoshop make sure you select "Baseline ("Standard") on the JPEG options when you save. That should fix the problem for you. It did the trick for My Kodak SV710 digital frame which wasn't displaying images I had edited in photoshop.
