Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I have a Denon 3805 connected to a blu ray S550 using the Analog inputs. I receive great sound however I have no volume control. I have checked the EXT IN button and I didnt have it on, so I tried it withit selected and not selected as well as with the receiver set to Autoand set to Analog only. The display shows Analog so the receiver knowsit is receiving the analog signal. However I still have no volumecontrol. The volume level is acceptable for regular viewing but if Iwant to crank it up at all I am stuck. The volume stays at the onelevel no matter what I do. The only change I get with the volumecontrol is when I lower it all the way so the volume displays _ _ _then the volume mutes or turns off. When I rotate the knob to get thedisplay to the next number the volume kicks on at the same level as itwas previously. There is no fading down or fading up to a certain level.
I went through the system setup and currently I only have the left andright front speakers and a center speaker. I dont have the surroundshooked up yet as the room is not completely finished. I have the frontand center speakers set to large with subwoofer set to on. This is setfor both the receiver and on the S550 player. I have the SW set to+10db and I tried changing all the channel levels to max to see if Iwould get a louder volume. Still no change. As I said before when Iturn the left knob to select the various inputs I hear the sound fromthe analog input and I still get the same volume level regardless ofthe input selected. The only change I get is the momentary muting ofthe sound when the receiver switches to the various inputs.
One thing I did notice was when I got to the TV input I heard the soundfrom the cable box as it is connected to the receiver via the coaxialdigital input and that input is assigned to the TV input. I getsimultaneous sound from the cable box and then the sound from the BluRay player. I am assuming the analog input receives the signal from thesource whenever it is sending a signal so that is why I am hearing thetwo channels simultaneously.
Anyway I hate to be one of those people that have long posts but I amfrustrated that I cant control the volume and it appears others havethe same hardware and can control the volume so I dont know why I cant.I am assuming its a simple setting somewhere but I cant figure it out.Sorry for being a pain in the ****. Any assistance I get from here isappreciated.
You're likely connected wrong. Double check, but I believe you aren't using the EXT IN connections but are hooked up in the Pre Out jacks. That would leave you with sound, but no control. Connect the player to the EXT IN jacks and all should be okay.

Page 87 in the instruction manual gives the procedure for resetting the microprocessor. Turn off the power. Hold the buttons Pure Direct and Direct. When the entire display flashes at one second intervals, release the buttons. I hope that helps, good luck to you.
