Question about Sanyo NVM-4030 GPS Receiver
Sanyo NVM 4030 says "Unable to open selected map. Please select another map". Then it says "The system couldn't find a map. Either there is no map data available or the map is for an older or newer software version".
Reloaded maps onto the SD card from the software disk provided, reset gps. Says the SOS...
Effen Sanyo won't help me because I misplaced my receipt!!!

SOURCE: Map Update
I got the chance to talk to 1st navteq and they requested that I speak with sanyo, then I got the chance to talk to sanyo customer service who couldn't offer any help other than asking me to wait till December or January when their version of 2009 map upgrade will be made available. There was one interesting revelation I kind of found out on Garmin 770 too; the same addresses could not be plotted or navigated by this also so I think it is a common factor and these are all somewhat new addresses of new developments. My suggestion will be wait till 2009 map upgrade is made available.

SOURCE: MAP UPGRADE FOR SANYO NVM-4050
I just contacted the Sanyo Service and came to know that there are no new updates available and if they release one it will be on the website http://www.easystreetnav.com/ and we cannot even update the maps by other third party means, which looks bad on the product support side.. :-(
Hope this information is helpful to you all..

Did you hear a beep when SD card is inserted? Did you also try to hard reset the unit using the On/Off switch located at the bottom of the unit? Try with another SD card and see if the SD option is selectabe. If all have tried I suggest you to exchange for another unit. HTH.

This unit only supports MPEG4/H.264 file. The files format has to be .MP4. This unit cannot play all MPEG4/H.264 movie files. Most movies out there are converted using DivX or XviD codec so if you need to convert them to this supported format. It will mostly cost you time if you found a free converter.
If you don't have time. You might try my basic hack to add a 3rd party media player that will play almost everything out there and it also supports sub-titles. You can check out my video on YT @ http://www.youtube.com/KhaKev.

SANYO has put a new upgrade for the maps for this specific navigator model. Type in the Sanyo model number and map upgrade in google and you will find it. BUT, and this is a big BUT, the upgrade will cost $75. With that price, you could buy a new upgraded navigator.
