Bosch makes a 6-piece set of drill bit tips, part #CC60391. It includes sizes T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30. My GE Monogram microwave used T20. I found them at Lowes for under $10.

You can remove the anti-tamper screws using using a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100 screwdriver.

If the correct tool is not available, there are several ways to remove the screws:

- Use a hammer and a small punch or similar tool to knock out the middle post of the screw, then use a standard T20 Torx bit to remove the screws. (Use safety glasses).

- Insert a small flat-bladed screwdriver (such as a jeweler’s type) into the slot between the post and the edge, tap the screwdriver firmly with a hammer to loosen the screw, grip the screwdriver with pliers, and remove the screw.

- Use a hacksaw or Dremel tool to cut a slot in the head of the screw, then use a flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the screws. (Use safety glasses).

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and get part numbers by entering your full model number here.

Once you have part numbers, you can find parts at a better price
here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit, such as behind the control panel or hidden elsewhere, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

How do I remove case of GE Jem31 microwave. There are only 3 screws on bottom and the back screws at the bottom are star shaped with donut around a peg.

You need a special screwdriver to get those star shaped screws out. I would suggest going to a hardware store or their website and look for "Tamper-proof Torx" screwdrivers or bits. You are probable going to need either a #15 or a #20 bit to get those screws out. Normally there are no screws on the bottom that hold the side cover on unless they are actually on the side of the microwave. The front is held on by clips mounted on the cover itself, so you need to make sure you catch them when you put the cover back on. Good Luck!

How to find fuse

Elaine, it will be inside the outer housing of the microwave. Un-plug the power cord and then take out the screws holding the outer cover on, some may be a special "torx" screw which will take a special tool to remove them. The fuse will be right near where the power cord enters the back of the unit. Usually goes to a small circuit board and the black wire typically connects to one end of the clip that the fuse snaps into. Hope this helps.

I have a GE model JE2160SF03 1.65 KW. It has no power, I have checked recepticle it has power. No didital display, nothing comes on.

Dead appliance, power on wall outlet.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARRAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

If your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the mains supply, remove the case and see where the mains lead goes in to the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.
The usual cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the appliance.
Hope this helps.

Is there a special tool needed to remove the housing on my GE microwave to replace the fuse?

Not really the chasiis screws for the top cover are usually Phillips head screws or Torx head screws. You can get a Torx screw driver at any hardeare store. There should be 4 screws on each side and 6 on that pak that hold the top cover on. Make sure the unit is unplugged / power off and once you remove the screws lift the top cover from the rear about 10 degress and pull it to the rear. NOTE there is a large capacitor inside the chassis that can runi your day. Just avoid it or holding a svrew driver by the handle only short across the terminals 2 to 3 times to make sure there is no charge in it. To find the fuse follow the power cord from where it enters the chassis until it terminated at the fuse block. Lift the fue out with a screw driver by placing the screwdriver in between the fuse block and the fuse. Good luck. Make sure you use the same fuse as a replacement.

A special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Some folks just use a hammer to tap and loosen the screw, then a small flathead screwdriver can be used to remove the screw, as shown in the photo.

Another creative solution is to use a hacksaw or a Dremel tool to carefully cut a slot in the head so a flatblade will fit it.

GE MONOGRAM MICROWAVE ZE2160SF- POWER but no HEAT

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Panasonic Microwave Fuse Replacement

Is it like this?
ae5b501.jpg If so, there are several ways to loosen them:

Some folks just use a hammer to tap and loosen the screw, then a "star", t-type, or small flathead screwdriver can be used to remove the screw.

Sometimes the screws are tough, so you may only be able to just bend the post slightly with a punch, then a small flat blade will "grab" enough to turn the screw. Pliers on the handle will help, too.

Another creative solution is to use a hacksaw or a Dremel tool to carefully cut a slot in the head so a flatblade will fit it, as shown in the photo below:
