Question about Vivitar ViviCam 3715 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Vivitar Vivicam 3715 can't format new 2gb SD card. Card OK!

Have tried to format card in camera but get nowhere. Camera freezes and can only be reset by opening battery compartment. Have tested card in MP3 player and works fine and stores many albums, so, I'm thinking camera can't cope with this extra memory and needs a much smaller rated SD card. Can you help?

What information is given in the manual ?
BTW, AFAIK, 2gb SD cards and 2gb SDHC cards are not interchangeable - do you have the correct one ?

SOURCE: "This card can not be used"

I need to amend my comment above. After deleting the original partition(s) on the 2Gb SD card and creating a new 512Mb partition, you should partition the remaining space on the SD card as a 2nd FAT16 partition.

Afterward, only format the 512Mb partition on the SD card. This may be done using the formatting functionality included in Windows. Be sure that you select the FAT option, and not FAT32. Once having completed the formatting, eject your SD card and insert it into its slot in your camera. You should now be ready to take pictures.

hi there
i'm afraid the biggest card you can use on this camera is 512 mb, which should give you about 150 pics at medium quality.

Inserted 2gb san disc into my camera 3715 just keeps saying disc is full, tried to connect to computer to see what happens, been trying to establish connection for last thirty minutes nothing happening[mac...

Your camera was made long before SD cards of that capacity existed. It is only designed to be compatible with a maximum 256MB SD card, as per page 46 of the user manual for your model.

Your fix is to replace the 2GB SD card with the smaller capacity model of 256MB. It's plenty for your camera anyway, as it allows you 96 shots at the highest quality setting and about 2900 at the very lowest quality setting.

New camera, new 2GB SD card. Cannot store pictures to SD card. Get message "No Files Exist" when pressing PLAYBACK.

Did you format the new card in the camera before you tried to use it? If you used the internal memory of the camera, make sure you format that with no card in the camera first.
