SOURCE: ATI All-in-Wonder 2006 PCI... Problem:

theres obviously some conflict between the sound card and the all in wonder card. it is probably an old card that has trouble playing in stereo. i know of some issues with all in wonder and onboard sound cards. might i suggest a new sound card?

or it may be a problem with the composite cable. does it make a sound like when you unplug composites from a tv? try looking into that also.

The PCIE slot on your mainboard is v1.0; this should work fine with a PCIE v2.0 card (which is backwards-compatible with v1.0), but not the v2.1 cards. Make sure you also check for power requirements of any potential card. If your PC has a stock PSU, it's quite likely that a PSU upgrade will also be needed.

I have the Board ASUS P5VDC-MX. And I wonder that there is no pci-e slot, but in the information there is written:"this board is pci-e (16x) ready".... is it right ? Can i use a pci-e (16x) video...

No, you can't use a PCIe x16 card in any of the slots on the P5VDC-MX board. A PCIe x16 card can't fit into the PCIe x1 slot. Attempting to force a PCIe x16 card into the PCIe X1 slot will break the card or bend the pins. A PCIe x1 card will work in a PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slot, though. Similarly, the AGP and PCI slots are not compatible with the PCIe x16 card design.

I wish that I had better news for you.

There are capacitor that are keeping the pcie card

you will need to find another video card that fits correctly OR modify the current video card so it fits, which voids the warranty and is not recommended.

I need a list of compatible video cards for an hp pavilion a1220n, can any one help?

Hello,

I would recommend Nvidia graphics card.
It is one of the best, and compatible with your computer.
I would recommend one of the most recent models.
Check with your local computer shops and they will assist you in getting a good recent model.

Thank you for using Fixya,
Kenneth.

I need help choosing a video card.

Hi there.
Any PCI Express card will do as long as its DDR2, DDR3 is not supported by your motherboard.
You have a choice between ATI or Nvidia graphics cards and your system should support up to 1GB of graphics memory.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

PCI

"As of 2007, PCI Express has replaced AGP as the most common interface for graphics cards on new systems. With a few exceptions, all graphics cards being released today (2008) from ATI and NVIDIA use PCI Express. NVIDIA uses the high bandwidth data transfer of PCIe for its newly developed Scalable Link Interface (SLI) technology, which allows two graphics cards of the same chipset and model number to be run as a pair, allowing increased performance. ATI also has developed a dual-GPU system based on PCIe called CrossFire. Towards the end of 2007, AMD released a motherboard chipset, the AMD 790FX, which supports up to four PCIe x16 slots, allowing tri-GPU and quad-GPU configurations for ATI cards.
Uptake for other forms of PC expansion has been much slower and PCI remains dominant. PCI Express is commonly used for onboard gigabit ethernet and wi-fi but add-in cards are still generally PCI, particularly at the lower end of the market. Sound cards, modems, serial port cards and other cards with low-speed interfaces are still nearly all PCI. For this reason most motherboards supporting PCI Express offer legacy PCI slots as well."
