-   Ryeguy80, just reread your post. You meant the disc, not the player, right?
Yes, the disc is definitely for PS2. The Sony support people said lots of people have been calling in about this.-   Guest

-   Ryeguy80, definitely PS2. It is over a year old and we are way too poor to have bought a PS3 then and probably now. (Three kids, one income...)-   Guest
I had the same problem.....new guitar hero game would not read the disk.....I unplugged it....cleaned the laser with a q-tip and windex....it now works fine.
okay umm this means that ur psp has been left on to long for awhile and that it is starting to now read new games...... what ur gonna want to do is try to find a new laser to read the games that is your problem

its our ps2 slim, when we plug in the power cord to turn on the on botton flahed red and wont turn on is it dead???
Same issue. My disc will load on a neighbor's PS2, which looked older than our model SCPH-77001, but I only get "Disc could not be read" on our machine.
I just got off the phone with the Sony PS2 support folks. They say that this game has "dual layers" on the disc which require the player to perform 100% up to factory specs. For $45 I can send it in and get it exchanged for another player that is up to spec. My inner skeptic tells me that I will have this same problem in a month or two when the exchanged player slips from being completely up to factory specs.
What am I going to do? I have three future rock stars who are whining and crying because the primo Christmas present is not usable, except for the fact that they can pound the drumsticks on the drum controller. Sony wins this round....
