Black oval spot on screen when turned on

It looks like the glass screen is "cracked" but it isn't. When I touch that part of the screen it turns different colors.

The LCD screens are built with a over-cover of a plastic film and the LCD is inside the cover. Any damage on the LCD glass will not be felt physically on the outside of the screen. So, chances are your LCD is cracked if you find a spider web or a liquid spill effect visible.

This is my screen turned on. No DVD player inside. There are no cracks or scratches visable or on the screen at all. What is this and how do I fix it? Its pretty much new

That is a cracked screen, most likely got stepped on from the backside which left the glass on the front undamaged. The screen will have to be replaced.

I have a jvc surround sound system 5 disc DVD player and my subwoofer won't power on I touch the cord that connects to the DVD player and it just makes a clicking sound the subwoofer model number is s

Looks like you have a faulty connection. First, unscrew the back and check the servo( motor piece you plug into) inside. You'll see the connection not taking place for it to turn it on. Or just the cord leading in isn't making the connection with it.

PROGRESSIVE LIGHT WAS SET BY MISTAKE, AND IT HAS BEEN SET ON AUTO HOW CAN I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY A BLACK SCREEN AND SOUNDS THAT COMES ON.

According to the operating instructions (page 97), Progressive Scan can be cancelled (or turned off) by pressing and holding PAUSE (on the main unit) continuously for 5 - 10 seconds, until the progressive indicator goes out, or turning it off in the setup menu. Your recorder should now be back to normal interlace video output. I recommend that you check your setup menu after this procedure to make sure nothing 'AUTO' is set, that shouldn't be set, and subsequently turning off any function that isn't required.

The DVD player is playing the DVD, but the screen is black. I know it has something to do with Line In / Out, but can't remember. Thanks.

I dont know this model but looks like you have it set to output to an external source, Sometimes theres a switch which says in/out which you need to set to in but if it needs to be set in the menuyou could connect to a tv via the line out and once you have the pic up then do the shange on the menu.
The other possibility is there is a little button that becomes depressed when the screen is shut down to turn of the pic when the unit is closed, these sometimes stick. should be easy to spot and worth a look just in case.

In mid movie, it hesitates over and over. Does this with all movies and cleaning DVD disc does not help. Works fine at the begining and toward the end.

There may be a crack in one of the gears that moves the pick-up assembly back and forth. The gears are mounted on the traverse deck. The one on the motor shaft is mainly the one that cracks. There could also be damaged or missing teeth on one of the gears. Cracks are hard to see, when trying to turn the gears manually you can feel the spot where it sticks. Have also seen a cable rubbing or something touching the mechanism that causes it to hang up in certain spots.

SLV-100 will not respond to controls. Displays "Welcome". The fan continues to run.

I have worked on a dvd with the same problem. Check to see that the board where the buttons to the control is located is not cracked. Sometimes people push them too hard, and break them. You would have to open it. If its cracked you can resolder each connection again, but some of the traces are extremely thin, and may require magnifying glass, it takes lots of patience. LOL Other than that it is beyond you the consumer to fix it. Electronic component failure is hard to spot without eletronic expertise.

I have had this problem all you do it wobble the screen back and forth until you find the right spot. if that doesnt work. unplug it from the charger assuming it is plugged in. If THAT doesnt work, believe me a little "thwap" on the back will.

Black screen with sound

Hi all

I had a similar problem with Coby dvd 7500 the screen was faint almost black but could hear the movie sound. I cleaned the lens as suggested but it didnt resolve the problem.

I tired to rest the player by removing the power supply cord and the battery for 30 mins as suggested in the manual but that also didnt work. What I did was left the player without battery and the power cord overnight and it did start working in the morning!!

This worked for me and hope works for you guys too...

All the best.

Cheers

Disc won't load and then shows weird symbol in right corner

Check the black spindle that holds the disk it may be cracked or broken or the little spring tabs are broken. If this is the problem when the disk spins it lifts up and the head doesn't read the disk, this is what has happened to mine. I am trying to locate the part but so far have not had luck finding it.
