Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

Wireless router not communicating with computer

I have a new WRT54GS router and I have connnected it following the directions rechecked the cables 50 million times and even replaced the ethernet cable but when it gets to the install router screen it gives an error message (322) that the new router is not detected. I have shut down everything for 10 minutes and restarted in this order
1. modem
2. router
3. computer
no change still having the same problem. I am on wildblue satalight internet services. Please HELP!

Dont run the CD. Connect the Wildblue to your router via the INTERNET PORT then your computer to ports 1 2 3 or 4. Turn off the router wait 10 seconds then turn it back on and restart your computer. you should be online. you dont need to install the router using the CD.

Change the existing password to new password


To reset the Linksys back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

This may help you in lieu of a manual.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.

My HP DeskJet 722C printer is directly connected to my main computer,not USB. incoming cable is to my modem, then to my linksys wrt54gs wireless router, then to my main house computer. i have connected a...


From your description, you appeared to have to have set up the printer correctly to print over your internet.
Can you see the remote computer from the main computer and the remote computer from the main computer?
Are both computers in the same workgroup or network name?

Unable to connnect to the internet


Hi Friend,

Please follow the steps in order to resolve the issue:

1.Connect the wire (which is coming out from the modem) to the WAN/Internet port of the router.
2.Connect the computer to either of the four LAN ports of the router.
3.Turn on the router and press and hold the RESET button for 30 seconds and turn it off

for another 30 seconds and turn it ON.
4.Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of Internet Explorer and hit enter.
5.Leave the username blank and type admin in password.

If you have cable Internet connection then follow the steps:

6.In the setup page make sure that the Internet Connection Type is selected as Automatic
Configuration.
7.Click MAC Address Clone tab. Select Enable and click the tab CLONE. Click Save settings.

If you have DSL Internet connection then follow the steps after Step5:

6.In the setup page select PPPoE in the Internet Connection Type and enter the Username

and password provided by your Internet Service Provider. Click Save Settings.

In order to configure Wireless settings, please follow the steps:

7.Now click Wireless(to configure wireless) and fill the sections as mentioned

Wireless Network Mode:Mixed
Wireless Network Name:As per your choice
Wireless Channel-6-2.437GHz
Wireless SSID-Enabled and click Save Settings

8.Click Wireless Security and fill the sections as mentoned

Security Mode-WEP
WEP Encrypion-40/64 bits 10hex digits
Key1-Enter 10 digit password(e.g-your 10 digit telephone number) and click Save Settings

Also upgrade the Firmware of the router. You may visit the link in order to upgrade firmware

My Linksys will connect with a cable but wont connect wireless!


Connect with a cable, and then follow the directions in the manual that came with the router, in order to connect to the web-server "inside" the router. Run the "Wireless Setup Wizard" to configure your wireless network.

Cannot get to the internet using this router ...does it need to be connected directly to a computer? we have it connected to the modem


For the initial set up of the router , the computer should be connected to the router.
Once you set up the router then you can use it wireless.
Are you able to go online when connected to the modem.

What do you want to know about the ports? The one separated from the other ports is the Internet port. that is where you're going to connect the cable from your modem. The other four are the ethernet port where you will connect the computers.

Linksys wrt54gs won't work


Your router might need a restart to begin communicating with the modem again. Remove power from the router, wait a few seconds, then turn the power back on.

I am getting an error reading saying The computer cannot detect my router...


hello!

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- are you using a wired or wireless computer in configuring the router?

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router


Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

note:

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work
