Question about GE Security Simon 3 Wireless Home Security System

Goes off even when disarmed!

The motion sensors trip even when the Simon 3 is disarmed. Now its beeping 3 times every so often.

I have added a motion sensor to my Simon 3 and the chime voice is definitely off.

However even after disarming the system using my access code, if I pass in front of the motion detector it trips the alarm, even though the status tells me the system is disarmed.

The only way to keep the motion detector from tripping the alarm is to delete it, which is what I have done until I can hopefully get a solution.

Any suggestions from anyone as to what I might be doing wrong when adding the sensor. I follow the instructions in the manual.

    Thanks.

It appears you have the "CHIME on Motion" enabled. Follow the Option 41 steps to disable it.

Option 41 - Voice Chime
The panel will verbally announce which chime sensor has been tripped if the chime
feature is on.
Add enables chime voice.
1. Open panel cover. Panel announces, Use numbered keys to enter ID.
2. Enter Access Code using the numbered keys. Panel announces, Please select from
Start Menu.
3. Press Add from the Start menu. Panel announces, Select from main menu
4. Press Option #. Panel announces, Option 1, press again for next option or done to
select.
5. Press 41. Panel announces, Option 41, press again for next option or done to
select
6. Press DONE. Panel announces, Option 41 is on.
Delete disables chime voice. The panel will not announce which chime sensor has
been tripped but will still chime 2 times for doors and 3 times for motion sensors when
a given sensor is tripped.
1. Open panel cover. Panel announces, Use numbered keys to enter ID.
2. Enter Access Code using the numbered keys. Panel announces, Please select from

You need to delete the sensor from the system (The problem is most likely the spring tamper on the cover. Try streching the spring a little bit and that might fix it.

Motion sensor disarms itself

the system is set up to bypass the motion if a door hasnt been opened during the exit delay. you can either open and close a door everytime you arm the system or if you have access to the installer you can delete option 52 and that will fix your problem

Low Battery warning on Simon 3 even when I changed it out

temperature affects batteries. if the batteries on the window sensors have been in use for some time it is probably time to change them. Alarm batteries are only expected to last 3 to 5 years with moderate use. If you have close neighbors or live in an apartment complex then false reads could be a factor.

Alarm goes off went armed as well as strobe won't go into armed mode

Smoke sensors will trip if dust accumulates in them. Get a can of compressed air like they sell for cleaning the vents in computers and try blowing the dust out. That should reset your sensors, If not you could disable the fire sensors for your trip and get it serviced when you return.

How do i set my simon 3 motion detector?

You have to put the motion in sensor group 17. You will see this list near the back of the thick installation manual that came with your Simon. Also, when installing the motion, when it asks you to trip the button on the sensor, all you have to do is take the back off of the motion. You will hear a beep. Replace the back, and continue!

it should be a 6 volt, 1.3 amp hour battery. you can get them at batteries plus. best bet is to take the old one with you to the store to ensure that it fits.
