Windows Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) would have been the perfect solution to your dilemma. However, MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs such as the Microsoft Open License Program (MOLP / Open), Select, and Enterprise agreement (or with a new computer as an OEM version at customer request). It is not available through retail channels. Turns out you will need an English Version after all.

The only way you can fix this is in control panel under
Regional and Langauge Icon that looks a Globe on a stand
When it opens you will see tabs at the top it's the second tabe from left to right that's the tab you want.
Once you click on that you will see one button right below it that says details or whatever it says in french.
Click on that one button and another window will open up.
The tab you need to be on will be the defualt tab you are on.
Now there will be 2 windows within that one tab the first window will have a pull down menu that's not the one you want
Below that you will see another window which a button to the right top button says Add click on that.
It will open another window which is the one you want.
There is a pull down menu click on that and scroll down till you see english then highlight it hit ok.
Then click on Apply down at the bottom right hand corner,
That window will close then click apply again.
The computer might have you restart if so go ahead and do that when it reboots you should have everything in english
Happy Holidays

Sometimes it's the simple things we overlook. After making the changes, did you click "Apply" or "Okay" before restarting? Try again but make sure you click Apply.

I believe you have the wrong keyboard input language installed as the default language.

If you are using Windows Vista...

1. Open the Control Panel. (Classic View)

2. Click on the Regional and Language Options icon.

3. Click on the Keyboards and Languages tab.

4. Click on the Change keyboards button.

5. To Select a Default Input Language, under the Default input language section, click on the drop down menu and select a language (English (United States) - US?).

6. Click "Ok" and try your keys.

If you ar eusing Windows XP...

1. Open the Control Panel. (Classic View)

2. Click on the Regional and Language Options icon.

3. Click on the Languages tab.

4. Dlick the "Details" button.

5. In the windows that opens, choose the "Settings" tab, and change the "Default input language to "English (United States) - US", and make sure in the window below, the Keyboard is set to "US"

6. Click "Ok" twice and try your keys.

Is it the Operating System you are trying to install?
or the service pack 2 for WinXP?

If it is the OS click on the ASK ME tab under my User ID and leave your contact address, I will send out the 3CD set for compaq Armada/Presario to load the OS and Applications.

If it is the Service pack, don't install SP2, Install SP3
The release candidate 2 is in English, German, or Japanese.
Down at the bootom of this link's page, select the language you want and download approx 315mb
