Installation is restarting my computer

After I install the software, it asks me to plug in my webcam into a useable USB drive. The minute i plug it in, when it tells me to, my computer will restart, after i log back in with the webcam still plugged in, the computer restarts again. My computer will continue to restart while the webcam is plugged in. I need help, im getting very frustrated!

sorry, i did not mean to send my last post, did not complete it

Do you have another account, if you do, try the same thing with the other account.

if it does the same thing but on the other account, then i would not use the webcam as the computer is resterting itself to protect it from surges.

If it does not do it in another account, let me know.

    have you tried another account?

    sounds like your webcam is causing a minor surg in your computer but that could be one of many things wrong;

IF it is something wrong with your webcam and the computer detects that it could be harmfull, it will talk to the PSU (power supply unit) and this will restart the computer to protect it from harm.

Does the problem stop when you unplug the webcam?

I am sorry to say but this is a physical problem, so there is no fix.
if you got the webcam recently, send it back from where you got it from and get a new one or a refund but otherwise, it is good for the bin.

i had a webcam do that to me a few weeks ago and the computer is stopping itelf being fried from surges from the webcam, so best not to try to use the webcam anymore because the computer cant keep protecting etself, eventualy it will damage the computer and will be expensive to repair.

Sorry, there is nothing much that can be done if it cant be sent back to the manufacturer

I have a logitec web cam and after a few minutes the image is broken up by vertical shimmering white lines how can this be fixed

Make sure you have Microsoft DirectX installed to support your webcam
Check that its plugged into a 2.0 USB socket or a powered hub
Re-install your software
Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.
Note - Older models on page 2 - look for the link at the bottom right of page 1 and click on it "Still can't find your product?",en?prodcrid=405

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to download Microsoft DirectX 9 or later to support your webcam

Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options during the installation - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
Connect your webcam when prompted.

How to install webcam

Following Step to Connect Webcam:-
1. Read the installation instructions completely before attempting to install the camera. Although this may seem tedious and unnecessary, it can save time and headaches in the long run.
2. Back up the computer's hard drive just to be safe. This will allow for a speedy recovery should the installation mess up the computer.
3. Install the webcam software. Before deciding to install the disc that came with the camera, check the Internet for an updated version of the software and download that if available.
4. Plug in the webcam. The software should give a prompt at the appropriate time. Cameras are usually installed with a USB cable. If installed correctly, the computer will acknowledge so by popping up a message saying it can see the new device.
5. Download an instant message program if using the web camera for chatting. Some free IM download programs include Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger and Apple iChat.

I cant instal web camera in messenger

First, make sure you follow the instructions from your camera manufacturer to ensure the proper installation of your camera.
This involves inserting the camera installation CD, being guided through a few steps for installation, and restarting your computer. Plugging in the camera's USB cord at the incorrect time during the camera software installation procedure can cause various problems.
To reinstall your webcam:
Uninstall any existing camera installations. Click "Start," "Settings," "Control Panel," and "Add/Remove Programs." From the list, choose your webcam software and click Remove.
Unplug the camera's USB cord from the computer.
Reboot your computer.
Insert your camera's setup/installation CD.
Follow the instructions described by the camera setup program, and plug in your camera only when prompted. This is usually done after restarting your computer.
