Can't open the window or the tailgate, with the key or the electronic button

When i push the button to open you can hear the motor try to open the back but it doesn't, so I tried the key and the key won't open the back up either.

SOURCE: my rear tailgate window will not open

it could be a few things maybe your lock cylinder is froze up? or one of the rods inside could be broke and your only hearing one side open? do you have a way to take some of the plastic off like an oval piece i know some vehicles do and others dont if you do look in it and see whats going on as your pressing the button or pulling the handle

SOURCE: front side window won't go up or down

Could be the switch or the motor. Check with a test light for power to the switch. If you have power there the pull, the door panel unplug the connection to the moter and check for power to the connection by pressing the switch, repplace faulty part

SOURCE: rear hatch window and door won't open

check the fuses first, then the switches in the driver side door each switch has a on and off by taking continuity readings using a multi- meter that beeps put the two leads on the switch and flip the switch if it beeps it is good now check the motor with the good switch if it is not moving or just barely moving it is dead replace it using the good switch check the other motors in the other doors, for the locking mechanism check the switch same door driver side first get the book for your chevy at any auto parts store. good luck

How to fix my rear tailgate window

check the fuse/relay. if it is neither of these check the switch with a multimeter. If you can hear the motor trying to move the glass when you try the switch it may be the regulator needs attention. It may be the motor needs to be replaced.

check fuse and relay along with the switch first then the regulator and motor afterwards. Replacing the small electronics is obviously easier than having to open up the tailgate to check the mechanics of the winedow.

How does the 1999 Tahoe tailgate open?

The right side can be unlocked with the key, once opened, the left side can be opened. Mine, the left side requires me to push in slightly while ensuring the release handle is pulled to it's furthest point before it will unlatch. If the electrical contacts at the door frame are dirty, the door may not unlock when pushing the button up front thus requiring the key to be used in the rear door. If this is not the solution, the latch rods inside the door need adjusted which requires some mechanical expertise.

Land rover discovery tailgate loack can only be opened using the key

The lock actuator motor is most likely sticking due to corrosion, open up the tailgate and replace the electric power lock actuator motor. If you need instructions on how to access the inside parts you can get them here for small subscription fee.

Hatchback doesn't unlock on 06 Kia sportqge. Hatchback window does open but the whole hatchback doesn't open. Not sure if it is electronic or mechanical problem

Hi

Can you hear the motor working inside the tailgate for the central locking when you press the eky fob lock / unlock button? if you can then the motor is fine and most likely the mechanism is jammed up. try pushing the tailgate inwaqrds while using the keyfob, this can often take the pressure off the mechanism. if you cannot hear the electric motor in the hatch then it has most likely failed, you should be able to get into the back and remove the trim to get the hatch open.

Get back to me once you have tested for the motor noise and I will send more info
