Samsung pcl5414r power resistors and pico fuses??

You said I may have to replace/check the power resistors and pico fuses along with the stk's i replaced. where are these located on the board, are the power resistors different from standars resistors. If not sure, where can I aquire a schematic for this t.v. I am capable of replacing parts, just need to know what to replace and what to check

Hi again and welcome back to FixYa,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me'.

Based on your original post, only the STK ICs were replaced. Presumably 392-040, the surrounding resistors and pico fuses could very well have been affected as well. Depending on the board revision (pls confirm location numbering on the actual board), the resistors could be:
RZ104 -RZ106 - 270 Ohm 1/2watt
RZ133-RZ135 - 27K Ohm 1/16 watt
RZ136 & RZ138 - 3.3K Ohm 1/8 watt
RZ146 and RZ147 - 3.9 Ohm 2 watt
RZ148 and RZ149 - 150 Ohm 2 watt
while the pico fuses would look like the image below.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

My Mitsubishi tv vs70707 convergence problems. I just replaced my 2 STK convergence chips, and double check my soldering. Still have 3d pictures and can't find pico fuses. Glass fuses are ok.

Need a better picture, but usually fuses are listed as F(number) and would be on the power input to the STK chips. The resistors should be checked as well.

Sony rptv STK chip pins making spark and smoking

replace the two convergence ICs and also check the low ohm resistors and pico fuses. You can get the sony convergence repair kit for most sony models from www.tvrepairworld.com which has both ICs 4 of the resistors and all 8 pico fuses plus instructions for doing the repair.

I Change the two stk for the convergence but steel have troubles

most sony models require the 6 pico fuses on the D board and the 2 Picos on the G board will require replacement along with the two ICs. Did you check the pico fuses?

My TV is showing convergence symptoms: the screen looks like 3D effects and as if someone is pusing in the middle of the screen. I've replaced my STK's, 2 pico fuses on the G board, and tested each...

One of two things:
Either:
a) The STK chips you put in are no good (not uncommon)

or

If you weren't careful you may have removed a surface mount resistor accidently while desoldering the orignal STKs. I had a customer do that to me once and figured it out by comparing the board to the schematic for that board location.

I've replaced my STK's, 2 pico fuses on the G boards, and tested each convergence resistor along with the pico fuses on the D board--albeit they were still soldered in place. I desoldered two pico fuses...

I believe there is a power board on the left side when looking from the back. It will be vertical, right next to the board you worked on. Take that board out. I believe there are about four pico fuses on that board. One or two of them will be open. Replace the fuses and you should be good to go.

Sony kp-51ws500 resistors and pico fuses on d board

I can help with the PICOFUSES...they are 4 amp Pico.

As for the resistors, if ANY are burned, look at the convergence amp next to the damaged ones...those resistors are a mirror-image of the damaged ones.

You NORMALLY do not need to replace the resistors, ONLY the picofuses.

Convergence issue with kp-57ws500

You have to remove one leg of each pico fuse to test them properly. Same goes for the resistors. Other options is you have a bad soldering joint or a faulty STK chip still.

Samsung hcm4215w keeps blowing conv resistors

Look Do this
Replace your STK's
I dont trust them any more after all that info, wow

anyway
replace them
and yes you need Rz123 and Rz124 to be 3.9Ohm @ 2w don't sub.
Now also order a, 3.5a pico fuse for location Fd102s.

regards,
hope this helps you.

Pico/ Resistors what are these??

Pico means small and these look like little small resistors, but don't have stripes like resistors, just part numbers. They should measure as a dead short and be in the immediate vicinity of the STK's

Red convergence is bad.

The red convergence amp has probably failed and both STK's should be replaced, along with two or more of the 3.9 ohm fusible resistors in the circuit. This is one of the more easily repairable units in the Samsung line because the convergence circuit is a separate board mounted up and away from the signal and deflection boards. But if you're not too tech savy don't tackle this yourself. Icz103 and Icz104 are both STK392-040. Check and possibly replace both FD101 and FD102 pico fuses (3.5 amp) and check all 3.9ohm/1w fusible resistors. At least two of these will be open when the corresponding STK failed. Replace the STK's with Samsung parts or genuine Sanyo STk's not their JApan knock-offs which are VERY hard to tell apart. And use a good heat sink compound when mounting the IC's for proper heat dissipation. If you have any questions let me know... Bill premtech@willapabay.org PS: Many Techs have taken to mounting fans on this board to cool the IC's... Fans have proven to reduce operating temps by as much as 40 degrees and extending the IC's life limit by as much as 50%...
