Question about HP Pavilion 533w (P9859AR#ABA) PC Desktop
Hey my friend is having problems with her HP Pavilion 533w when we turn the computer on the loading screens come up but after that the screen goes blank but you still can see the mouse
So you are getting the Dell startup screen but nothing after that? Get into setup at that point which I think is accomplished by pressing "DEL" or "F1" on a Dell. Check the "Disc Drives and Boot Order" in there and see what it says. If the Hard Drive does not show up there it may be shot. This sounds to me like the HDD quit or the Boot Sector is corrupted which means at the least you may have to reinstall Windows or worst case scenario is you will need a new HDD. But then again, it could be something completely different.

Reboot and tap F2 to get to safe mode. If that works then we can explore further.
