I tried to wash two rugs. they came apart and twisted under the agaitor( not sure if I spelled that right). Anyway I need to unloose the material, how do I take off the agaritor? I tried to turn the fabric softner dispenser both ways, but I couldn't get it turn loose either way.
Thank you, Mona

Re: maytag performs washing machine
You need to tilt the dispenser to one side then it will pop off once you get that off you need a socket set to remove the bolt from the center of the agitator after removing the bolt the agitator just lifts up

Sounds like unbalanced now - try to rebalance the adjustable knobs under the washer - we have to rebalance every few months because our floor isn't the straightest. We always know when its time because the washer won't work right.
No power to the washerMake
sure there's power getting to the washer. Check for a tripped circuit
breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the
power cord disconnects at the washer, if this is the case, the wiring
must be repaired or replaced.
Lid switchThe washing
machine may not function if the lid switch is defective. The switch is
usually located near the door. Replace if found defective.
There is a coin trap in the pump most likely is pluged // u have one machine that is very hard to write down how to take apart as you have to remove the door lift top remove front panal .. pump is on the lower right ..I would leave that one to a pro if you never done one before......good luck
The washer is likely detecting an off balance load with only a rug or two. You may want to try and put more rugs or old towles in to offer a counter balance to alleviate off balance condition. Or, you may consider washing the rugs at a commercial facility. They really are hard on the residential machines, especially if they come apart or the backing comes off.
Your pump is blocked with the bits from your wash. A handyman may be able to service the pump, but it would be a quick job for a tech. The pump us accessed from under the machine and can be inclipped like a light bulb. Inspect carefully first. look for small latch clip before twisting. Make sure the machine has been bailed out first. lean the machine back againt the wall to give access and to keep what little water remains, away from the drain/pump hole. Good luck....Nomess
Okay! We just fixed this problem on our washer. First, be safe and be sure that the electrical cord is unplugged. Then you want to take the lid panel off of your washer. Then you'll feel around under the base of the agitator/washer basket. You should notice that its feet sit inside huge springs which are fixed to the base of the machine unit. Determine whether any of your basket feet are disloged from their spring and re-insert. Make sure the fit is good or else you might have the same problem again. After you reassemble, plug in the machine and try a test spin without any clothes. Then try with a smallish load.
