Here is the HP website to download a manual if you don't have one. The number you list is not the model number that they use. Then  GO into the setup routine and change it to the default values.Ths should get you started. Their are backup disks available for most HP computers to restore the Windows if need be.

It is possible that the file Lsass.exe has become damaged or is not properly linked to the other files in the security system. Reset this file by using the following steps:

1. Turn on the PC and press the F8 key repeatedly when the first screen appears.
The Windows advanced options menu appears.
2. Use the Up and Down Arrow and Enter keys to select Return to OS choices .
3. Select Microsoft Windows Recovery Console .
NOTE: If "Microsoft Windows XP Recovery Console" is not listed, restart the PC with a Windows XP CD, Recovery Console CD, or Recovery Tools CD in the top CD or DVD drive and open Microsoft Windows Recovery Console. If a Windows XP Setup screen appears when using Recovery Console CDs, press the R key to open the Recovery Console.
NOTE: If "Microsoft Windows XP Recovery Console" does not list and you do not have a CD with recovery console, try the following:
a. Turn on the PC, and press the F10 key repeatedly at the first screen.
b. At the Recovery screen, click Advanced Options .
c. Press the Alt + D keys at the same time to open a command prompt window and skip to step 5.
4. When the login prompt appears, press the number next to the windows version (minint or Windows) and type the logon password. Try pressing Enter if you do not know the password.
5. At the command prompt, type the following: diskpart
6. Press Enter , do one the following:

  • If a table of volume names appears, remember the drive letter next to the main drive volume name (usually D or H next to HP_PAVILION or PRESARIO) and press the Esc key.
  • If a diskpart prompt appears, type list volume , press Enter , remember the drive letter next to the main drive volume name (usually D or H next to HP_PAVILION or PRESARIO), type exit when done, and then press Enter .
NOTE: If the main drive volume name does not appear in the list, the PC needs to be recovered.

Use the following steps to find and replace the Lsass file from the command prompt environment:
Type the following at the command prompt: cd X:\i386 (where X is the main drive letter)
Press the Enter key. If the error The system cannot find the path specified appears, enter the following paths, in order, until the error does not occur:
cd X:\Windows\i386 (where X is the main drive letter)
    cd c:\i386
    cd c:\Windows\i386
Press the Enter key, and type the following at the command prompt:
expand lsass.ex_ X:\windows\system32 (where X is the drive letter)
Press the Enter key, and type the following at the command prompt:
cd X:\windows\system32 (where X is the drive letter)
Press the Enter key, and type the following at the command prompt:
    attrib lsass.exe -r
Press the Enter key, and type the following at the command prompt:
    rename lsass.exe lsass.bak
Press the Enter key, and type the following at the command prompt:
    rename lsass.ex_ lsass.exe
Press the Enter key, and type the following at the command prompt:
    exit
Press Enter and the PC restarts without the error. If the error persists, go to the next step.

If the error still continues, recover the PC

    Please note:
This is the solution if you are running on Win XP and the computer starts to black screen with only a white arrow.

If you are running Windows Vista or if you are having a flashing cursor instead of white arrow, the solution will be different.

    Please keep me posted.

you need to reload OS or install a new HD. Get an external HD enclosure first to see if your HD still works and while your doing that see if you can back up all data in the HD to another PC.

The screen remains black when computer is turned

maybe a hardware problem, on booting the pc, move the screen to every angle to see if there is a connection problem.
If so, then use your warranty if you have one.

My hp pavilion tx1000series won't boot even at bios

EXTREMELY common failure in the TX1000 line. Problem is the mainboard, part# 441097-001. From HP it should only be about $200 on exchange. DO NOT get this part anywhere else, as the OTHER common failure for this model is the wifi goes out.
I do about 10 of these TX's per day, no im not kidding, and i promise you HP has the most stable parts source around for this.
