My hotpoint washer drier power on/off button has broken.pls help
Hi my machine is 5 years old, been working fine, when i was pushing the power button to on, it stuck in the off position. Ive tried spraying with wd40, and pushing frimly in and out, to no avail. Really dont want to be paying for another machine for the sake of an on/off switch. Anybody got any ideas?

Smithbrother is on to it I think. Those push on push off buttons fail after awhile. You can get a replacement, put it on, or have it replaced. The appliance covers must be removed to detach wires, remove button, put new one in, and reattach wires to the replacement.

1. Switch on the power and when the language is displayed - press the child lock+ temperature+ spin buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds. Release the child lock button when other languages appear. Scroll down using temperature button-until English is dispalyed. Select using child lock button.
If indeed the board is broken, then the price reflects what would be Hopoint's charge, as there repair charge is nearly £100.oo plus the board at approx£80.00.
If it is under 5 years old, then you should be able to claim under the 5 year parts cover. You could fit it your self, as it is a straghtforward repair.
If you need any more info, e-mail me.
F12 indicates 2 or 3 differant faults.
Try these first.
Press and hold start/ cancel button for at least 3 seconds, and see if jt works.
Make sure hot and cold water taps are turned on and that you are getting water to the m/c.
Select a drain prog, and see if it pumps out o/k.
If all these do not solve problem, then you have a communication error between boards, this entails calling an engineer out.
If it is under 5 years old then you should be covered by the Hotpoint 5 year part guarantee.
Plz rate my solution .Thanks.
take top off. you will see drier manifold going across top of machine with stats mounted on it. one or more of these stats is resetteble ie has a little button in the middle. press to reset. some hotpoint have a thermal fuse mounted on the manifold so if present, check this for continuity as well. with top still off, put on dry and check fan working as well. if you get it going and fault reoccurs, then there is a blockage in the drier duct
if you accidently push the on/off and start buttons together, this put the appliance into a test/demo
mode. to cancel it you just need to push the on/off and start buttons
at the same time and "d off" should be displayed on the screen and it
should now work as normal
Hi ya, just a quick suggestion, have you cleaned the filter on the front of your machine?? My machine did this and it was only when i cleaned the fluff and the 5 pence pieces from this filter it stopped, Hope it helps
