SOURCE: I bought an All-in-One Multifunctional

I have spent hours trying to figure out how this damn thing works since the instructions require the user to have way more computing skill than I. First, the thing comes apart, one part being the interface and additional power supply and the other being the power supply that may connect to the Coolmax or your HD power supply if not operational through the Coolmax. If your old HD is larger than 3.5", you may have to connect the power plug to the HD 4 pin power source. otherwise, connect old HD to the Coolmax CD 350 adapter and then connect the Support USB2.0 to a USB interface on your new computer. If your old HD is a 2.5 SATA , do not connect the red power plug to a USB2 interface on your new computer unless you are positive the old HD operates over 5V. Connecting the red USB power source to your new computers USB2 interface may cause the old HD to shoot sparks and smoke, and you will not need the device any more.

Test the PSU if the units fan is not working the power supply unit is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket
hope this helps

Problem Detecting a USB Hard drive or a USB Device
If your computer or laptop has a problem detecting a USB hard drive or a USB device, and another computer can detect it, then the problem could be a RF interference problem.
Then this may help.
Try using an USB cable that is a shielded USB cable (ie. An USB cable that has a clear plastic covering and you can see a metallic weave which covers the wires) OR a USB cable that has a Ferrite core attached to the USB cable (the ferrite core is a cylindrical object approximately 30mm long X 15mm diameter and it is attached to the USB cable near the connector).

Card crashes my pc to blue screen when i hit record. everything works but this function and its what i bought it for. to record video from vhs to computer. please help

Try placing it in a different PCI slot. The IRQ may already be assigned to handle too many for this card. Also state the blue screen code if you can, the make and model of computer motherboard would be helpful as well. In your Bios see if your shadowing is enabled if so try disableing shadowing.

I keep getting a blue screen when setting up media center using my sabrent TV-PCIDG card I just bought. BlazeDtv says "class not registered" and then that the hardware is not installed.

Cool max cd-350-combo does not reconize ide drives when connected to pc. System acknowledges that a mass storage device is present but does not show in my computer or disk management (so ya cannot change...

Don't know if you've solved this problem, but I was having the same issue using Windows 7, 64bit. It had been working but Explorer crashed & Explorer restarted, it recognized the device, but I couldn't access the files. I tried it on another laptop & it worked. So I left it plugged in & restarted the computer and that fixed the problem. If that doesn't work, you may have to uninstall the driver that windows automatically installed for it & then plug it back in & have windows reinstall the driver. Good luck.

Does anyone have the instructions for this as the web site is poping up will damage your computer

I would ignore the warning. I went to this web site. http://www.coolmax.com/ and my Web Of Trust gives it a questionable rating as there are not enough reviews to give it a good rating. I found nothing wrong with the web site. I suspect you may have spyware that has infected your computer. This is how they operate. They pop up scaring you and wanting you to click the scan or something else and when you do you have problems. Run all your security scans in Safe Mode and clean all the find.

I have a dead hard drive 2.5" SATA

If it is truly dead and you MUST have the information from it then the only real alternative is to send it to a data recovery expert. These services are NOT cheap
If it clicks or makes random noises clicks pings etc then it is most likely dead I am afraid.
