Question about Lawn Mowers

Briggs and Stratton dies after 15 mins

I have a new snowblower with a Briggs and Stratton 11.00 snow series engine. On the third use, it died after 45 min of use, just after I finished a pass. It wouldn't restart until 10-15 mins. Afterward it will run until it gets warmed up and then either dies or occillates the RPM popping and spuddering as the governor tries to maintain RPM even without a load. Manually holding the throttle at the carb doesn't help greatly as it still drops it's RPM without any reason.

When cold it will start on the first try and run without a load for 10-15 mins without a problem. Oil level is fine, the sparkplug wire seems secure. Yeah it's got a warranty but I'd love to know what's up before some salesclerk gives me a story on what I did wrong.

Had it checked out under warrantee. They couldn't find anything but they cleaned the plug and fuel bowl on the carb. I works fine now.

I suspect that I got water in the tank somehow when I was blowing up a storm. My solution now is to clean around the gas cap after every session so the snow won't melt in the warmer garage and contaminate the gas tank.

We have a briggs and stratton mower that has been in storage for 5 years with very few hours on it, it will start but dies shortly after.

needs to have carb cleaned out. most likely the main jet in the carb is plugged. symptoms include only running on choke and dies when choke is turned to run. or if you only have a primer bulb, it will only run for only a few seconds every time it is primed. if you are qualified to work on the carb, dont forget to start with fresh gas and possibly new fuel line and filter. My 650 series 190cc briggs and stratton starts and dies. I've tried everything. I can't figure it out. It only has six hours on it . its brand new?

First of all; if your engine is that new, take it back where you bought it and have them make good on it.That being said, if you're priming it and it starts then dies, then it's not getting fuel on its own. You've run some bad gas thru it or let gas sit in the carb (Ethanol Gas=BAD) and it is clogged up somewhere. Easy fix if you're so inclined. I'll link you to a good video that shows you how to do this carburetor. Just be very aware of how the linkage to it is hooked up (take a digital photo, trust me). Ignore the first part of the video about removing just the bowl. Take that baby off and go THRU it with a good carb cleaner. Remove the bowl gasket and set aside, as carb cleaner and rubber are not compatible. Here's the video link. I hope this helps; I know it's frustrating; I go thru this every day and keep coming back for more! :
Best of luck. James

Briggs and stratton 6.5 Ohv dies after running for about 10-15 minutes. I let it sit awhile then runs again. This is a vertical shaft lawnmower engine.

This is a classic symptom of a blocked fuel cap vent. Next time it dies, remove the cap, wait 30 seconds or so (for carb to re-fill), then try to re-start. If it works, replace the cao.

18 hp briggs will run for a little while then die. Checked coil and new gas

It's possible that you have condensation built up in your carburator. Tiny droplets can deny gas to the cylinders. Since you put in new gas and I assume you are getting spark, drop the bowl on the carburator and check for this culprit. Could be a quick fix.
Hope this helps... Good luck!
