Re: iriver E100 is not recognized on PC
That might be a blessing in disguise. I have never liked the non-MSD option, but I tolerate it. You should be able to transfer and view files with the computer recognizing it as an MSD device. If you insist on changing it, use the iRiver plus 3 software from iRiver's website to update the firmware on the player, and your computer will no longer treat it as a Mass Storage Device - don't say I didn't warn you.

Take out the batteries and hold power button for ten seconds. Replace batteries and see if anythings changed. If not, then plug it into a computers USB port and then hold the power button for ten seconds. Safely Remove from the USB port and then check again. If none of these work, you just have a malfunctioned device and it may cost more to fix it.
when the phone is plugged into computer via usb port, on the display of the phone will say usb modem , usb mass storage device with a checkmark beside it. tap where it says "usb mass storage device " on the display of the phone. on your computer it should begin to install device drivers, and now you can view or transfer files to/from the phone. note: you need to have a micro sd card installed on the phone before you can select usb mass storage under usb phone settings. hope this helps because i like to never found the answer, had to call lg customner service to find the answer, this info is not in the owners manual or anywhere to be found on the internet.
Make sure the camera is on and STORAGE is selected on the camera screen when connected to the computer. You will need to have STORAGE highlighted and select OK on the camera as this starts the camera and computer to communicate. Once communication established the LCD screen of the camera goes dark and the computer should generate a removable disk drive. Check the System Tray (lower right corner beside the PC time) for Safely Remove Hardware. When you click on it, it should read "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device Drive ?:" If you dont see that, then check the Device Manager to see if the camera is recognized as USB Mass Storage Device. The camera uses the driver usbstor.
Make sure you have the latest version of Windows Media Player. XP has all the right drivers but the iRiver needs to synchronise with Media Player inorder to transfer music onto the player using the sync function. Get Media Player 10 or higher then plug the iRiver into the computer.
