Maytag washer lat8426 stopped working in mid cycle

I opened the lid to add clothes and it will not turn back on. I have ruled out any issues with the electrical outlet or circuit breaker. It was working and I disrupted the cycle for a second to add clothes and when I shut the lid it no longer works. I think it is a fuse but I cannot find any fuse box on the unit. I removed the panel and cannot find any fuses. Can you help?

Some Maytag lid switch assemblies have fuses. Fuse or not, I would be checking the lid switch.

take your outlet pipe and place into a bucket so that it is low to the ground if water comes out then it could be that your pump is faulty when the water has all drained away the pressure switch will reset itself and the lid will now open if no water comes out un-clamp your outlet pipe from your pump if then water comes out then your pipe will be blocked m8

SOURCE: Washer stops mid cycle

I had this same problem, it was the lid switch on the left side of the lid that was causing the problem. It seems to be designed to stop the washer if the load becomes too unbalanced. I ended up taking off the control panel and looking at the switch. The problem switch is a two part brass metal switch, the two parts are connected by a spring. It appears that the join at the spring started to work itself loose easier as I used the washer more. I ended up putting a twist tie around this join (through the square hole and around the part that descends vertically into the washer), and tightening it up well so that the two brass parts would stay connected and not release apart so easily. It seems to have worked well, I haven't had this problem re-appear at all.
The one thing that I am careful of now is the load balance of my washer. Since my 'repair' in effect bypassed the load imbalance mechanism of the washer, I am more careful of how much I put into the washer.
Other than this hiccup, I'm quite happy with this little washer and how well it has performed. Great value for the money!

SOURCE: Removing Back Panel of Kenmore Washer Model 11020902990

if its less than 15 years old its a direct drive whirlpool, no belt, remove the cabinet, not the back panel. look up direct drive whirlpool washer cabinet removal on internet, and replace the coupler, most likely, if it drains.

first check the house breaker and make sure you still have power. If it does then I would unplug the machine and lean it back against the wall to look at the motor wiring harness underneath to see if it came loose or is wet.

My washer has been stopping mid-cycle like the lid was opened lately. I have been able to open and close the lid to "jar" it into finishing the cycle(rinsing) until now. It has just stopped and...

The lid switch will need a slight adjustment to properly activate, or you could bend the raised bump on the back of the lid out a bit so it activates the switch better.

Check your lid switch, some machines stay running when you add clothes when it agitates, but will shut off if you lift the lid in rinse and spin, lid switch may be broken.

Wash cycle will not start

you may have leaned on lid and damaged the lid switch , so the washer thinks the lid is open all the time unit will fill then stop with lid up.

Runs full wash cycle, but there it is still full of water and suds

Amy, there was a service flash for the lid switch on this model. The contacts inside the switch were sporatic which caused; stopping in mid cycle, wet clothes and no drain. You would have to put it in spin and have someone jiggle the wires to the lid switch to verify that this is the problem and not a timer problem. I really think it's a lid switch problem. Your part number for the new, non adjustable switch is 12001908.
