Question about GE Profile PSW26P Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator
The flap that opens and closes to allow ice in and out would not close. Now will not open or close. This refrigerator was puchased in September of 2005 after Katrina. Before a year had passed, we had this problem and it was replaced. We have the same problem again but of course, not under warranty. They have sent us the parts at a discounted price but we are not sure how to replace or even if these are the right parts. Can someone help, please

SOURCE: fridge not cooloing right
I have the same fridge, but a complete different problem. We just moved into this house and bought the fridge separately from the previous owners (so it's not covered under the home warranty). Our fridge side is freezing everything inside. It's on the lowest (warmest) setting and it froze a gallon of milk over night! The freezer is extremely cold, too. I took everything out and unplugged it and let it get to room temperature, but that didn't help. We also cleaned out the coils. Any suggestions?!

There is a ice door solenoid for your dispenser, its probably the problem. Costs about 35 dollars and just about anyone can replace it.

We had the same problem, our is four years old and for three years, water would run down from the bin and freeze on the back wall. It finally turned out that our unit did not have the sensor in the freezer part from the factory. Once this was installed, it has worked fine.

Remove the top freezer hinge hover on top of the freezer door . Unplug the receptical there ( this will remove power to the door only ) .
Using a small screwdriver at the "crease" on the bottom of the dispensor control board inside the dispensor , twist slightly to disengage the 2 clips ( 1 on each side ) holding the dispensor board . Unplug the 3 connectors from the board . 4 screws ( 1 on each corner ) hold the dispensor housing shield . Remove these 4 small screws . After removing , at the top right , you will see a solenoid and plunger . These are probably rusted , holding the flap open . The part number for the solenoid and plunger is WR62X10055 . 3 screws hold this part on . When reinstalling the dispensor housing , It slides back on 2 "grooves" so make sure it is back in place , or the board will not snap back on properly at the bottom .
