Re: web camera not working correctly
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are
to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set
it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for
the Audio and Video to function properly. A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:
Go to TOOLS,
then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the
Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
click on the Video Settings.
camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your
friends and Family will now see and talk to you. B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set
it up as follows:
Go to Messenger
at the top left and click on it.
go down to Preferences and click on it.
and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to
the computer Audio Card.
go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click
on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on
the left window.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so
you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

On top of the monitor is the monitor / viewfinder button. Little right from the centre, you can press that one to switch between picture in the viewfinder or on the monitor. It also can be your batteries are old and can't be charged to the required charge. Or even when one is not ok, the camera can't work as it should. Try new batteries. And Olympus wants you to use only NiMH batteries. Alkeline batteries may have a much shorter service time. AA manganese batteries are not allowed in the camera and NiCD won't work at all. When using new batteries, don't forget to charge them before use.
As a last option, it could be something is defect in your camera. (I hope not) When something is broke in your camera, or something is blocking, the current could become to high and damage the camera. Or if a gear is defect, it could cause extra damage in the camera. In all that kind of occasions the camera could play safe and not switch on to full operation. If nothing will bring back the light on your monitor, the only thing to do is contact your dealer, and if repair should be to expensive, start saving for a new one. Sorry.
Its not your lifecam that is allowing you to see or hear the other person, it basically means that the other persons video and audio equipment is installed properly and yours is not, try downloading the latest version of the life cam software and see if it resolves this problem or if your lifecam software installed correctly there is an update feature run that and it will download a package called icweb.exe or something, install that...hope this helps..
Try this: Play back a recently recorded scene through the viewing screen. Make sure any "mute" setting is turned off and turn the volume up. If you can hear the sound, the problem is not in the camera. Also, run through your menu's audio settings to make sure that they are set correctly. If you can't hear any sound, repeat the process with an external mike attached. If this gives you sound, the camera's built in mike is defective. Time to hand it in for repair. If you still can't hear any sound, something else is wrong with the camera. Again, send it in for repair.
At first, when you were not able to hear sound in playback on Camera LCD view, it was problem of Built-in Speaker defect. Now you can't hear sound on TV as well, it means Sound Processor IC is defective. You need to contact Sony Service Center for proper repair.
Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. you need professional service to fix it.
