Question about Teac RW-H300 CD Recorder
CD recorder stops at 35-45 minutes into a recording session and flashes "update." Can not finalize CD at this point and then a "disc error" message flashes. Happens whether it is only 1 long track, or several shorter tracks. Also happens no matter what mode I use to record: "record disc", "record manual" "record track" etc. Used several different types of CD-R's with no difference. This is an older Phillips model, but never abused. Getting tired of recording 25 minute CD's!
Sounds like either the grease on the laser rails has soldified making it difficult for the laser to push part it(easy fix)or some teeth have stripped off the gearing that moves the laser ( not so easy) - first thing to try is take the casing off,and use a q-tip or similar to run down the laser rails with the tray out of the unit.

The recorder was switched off/unplugged after recording without ejecting the disc. The recorder could not write essential recording information onto the disc.
While REPAIR is displayed, the recorder automatically examines the recorded area of the disc and updates the track numbers and recording time data. This process takes about 40 minutes for a fully recorded disc. Finalization or further recording is possible once the REPAIR message disappears.
