Question about Olympus Camedia C-160 Digital Camera

Camera not properly reading memory card

I have an Olympus FE-350 Wide digital camera with an Olympus XD 1GB memory card. Although I have taken 50 photographs on the card the camera now shows only 4 in the review mode. However, if I put the card into a card reader all 50 photographs are shown. Can anyone tell me why the camera is not reading and reviewing all 50 ?

Hi, thanks for the comeback. The 4 photos are just odd ones in no particular order. When the chip is in the card reader they are all in the same directory, does that help?

    regards, Keith

Hi, Thanks once again. The images were displayed on the PC from the card reader. Some were deleted and the rest were copied onto a CD. The images haven't been stored on the PC. Keith

Have you deleted any photos or files off the card using the computer - either with the card in a card reader on the computer, or when the camera was connected to the computer?

What is the name of the directory that all the images are in?

The 4 photos you can review, are they the most recent photos, or the oldest photos?

When you view the photos on your computer with a card reader, are all the photos in the same directory?

The problem stems from deleting some of the images from the PC. You need to copy all the files onto the PC, and delete all of them from the card on the camera. Then reformat the card on the camera. Then take 1 picture on the camera.

After you have just 1 new photo on the card, try copying the older files back onto the card in the same directory as the 1 new photo. This may work.

If it doesn't work, the problem may be with missing hidden thumbnail files. In that case you may not be able to get the photos to display on the camera again.

Will the Olympus Camedia C-350 zoom take a 2 GB xD card?

The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is an M or H 512mb card. The 1gb or 2gb cards are not compatible. The firmware in the camera cannot support memory storage with that capacity. The camera came out before those cards did and there no plans to upgrade the camera to allow those types of cards to be supported.

"error write" memory card XD M 1Gb

You may want to check Fuji's website and make sure that the 1gb card is compatible for the camera. You may need to have the firmware in the camera upgraded to support storage that large.

Maximum memory size for your camera is 256MB (according to the manual). However, some users claim that the camera can support up to 512MB. To be safe, just use a 256MB card.
